I'd also recommend Tale of Two Wastelands (you need Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 and it does a superb merge of both games as detailed below) >

    mod.pub/ttw…nds

Tale of Two Wastelands is a total conversion project that seamlessly merges Fallout 3 and its DLC into Fallout: New Vegas, allowing both games to be played in a single playthrough. It upgrades Fallout 3's mechanics to those of FNV, while balancing both games to feel like you're playing one full game (instead of two different games using the same character).

New Vegas mechanics like the companion wheel, companion perks, weapon mods, crafting, recipes, harvestable plants, and poisons have been added to the DC wasteland items, NPCs, and world.

TTW also restores some cut content, fixes hundreds of thousands of bugs, add some items, changes the level cap from level 50 to 60, alters the FO3 bobbleheads to give mini perks (since it's already too easy to max SPECIAL and Skills in TTW), and more.

TTW isn't just FO3 in FNV. It has become a unique game, with its own balance, fixes, changes, additions and other unique things that differentiates it from both FO3 and FNV.

Has anybody got this TTW project working on steamdeck? If so how easy is it to set up & how does it run? Thanks.

Since getting a Deck OLED I'm getting back into gaming after years...I have never played a Fallout game but tempted by this price. Without playing one before can I dive straight into this fairly easily or do I need to play another one first ? Thanks.

Each game is self-contained, so you can jump into any of them (in any order) and you won't feel lost.

Im on my 3rd playthrough maybe Ill finish it this time and see why everyone says its the best fallout. Ive put about 50hrs into it with my completion attempts combined and while I remember some bits being really good, the main quest seems pretty disappointing, however playing and leaving it and then coming back to it after I forgotten everything doesn't help . I made the mistake of using too many guides and then it feels more like im doing a job then having fun. Im playing it again now, and doing quests which jog my memory kinda sucks because its kinda boring doing quests that you already know the story to.

I think the point of fallout or any other good game is that it makes you ponder the way things are

fallout tells you that liberal democracy failed, and asks you what should replace it?

the first thought is oh replace it with more democracy, but the same weakness and failings persist

what if fascism is a better option- what if we need authoritarianism- how much does it take for someone who claims to love freedom, be willing to give it up- how many acts or terrorism does it take before you are willing to have the government have access to your phone

taken to the extreme- would slavery be okay as long as your life is made better

and the opposite, what if everything was left to the market, what if the world just needs more libertarianism. what would a world look like if everything was DLC or put behind a paywall- probably las vegas

the reason new vegas stands out is because it doesn't answer or moralise. it just presents imperfect options for an imperfect world

This is the best Fallout game ever made. It is classed as a spin off but it is better than the main games in this style so Fallout 3 and 4. You can't go wrong with Fallout New Vegas, 3 and 4.

    Agreed

Played this through on the deck oled. Easily 90fps but you get stutter when travelling across the world regardless of settings. Looks great though

The best Fallout game by a mile, a must buy for anyone with a pc that can run the game, it's that good everyone should play it.

Constantly crashes on Win11. Good game though

Want a cheeky Gecko to absolutely pace it down, waddling through the wasteland only to bite you in the back side?

    buy it nowww

Has anyone else bought this and can't get it to run on steam deck? Keep getting this error - 5:0000065434 🤷‍♂️

If you search that error code a Reddit thread suggests installing fallout 3 first and making sure it's installed on the SSD, not an SD card.

You could also try using GE (glorious eggroll) proton, it's quite easy to install on the desktop if you look up a tutorial.

When starting a new game get the Wild West perk/trait. so worth it!
