Firefly became the world's first hand-crafted sweet tea flavoured vodka. Keeping true to its Southern roots, Firefly is distilled four times, infused with tea grown on a plantation five miles from the distillery and blended with real Louisiana sugar cane. Distillery Information

Firefly Distillery was founded by Jim Irvin (a graduate from Vanderbilt University in chemistry) and Scott Newitt (a graduate of Louisiana State University) in 2008. The roots of the distillery are in Jim Irvin's entrance to the wine business with muscadine grapes in 2000. Meeting Newitt then a liquor distributor, they entered the spirits industry with a small still and the idea for a sweet tea vodka in 2008

Firefly Distillery is a company located near Park Circle North Charleston, South Carolina, that produces a line of alcoholic beverages and licenses its brand name to the Sazerac Company for Firefly branded products produced elsewhere. Some Firefly branded products sold outside of South Carolina are actually produced in Kentucky by Sazerac rather than being produced by Firefly itself.

In October 2008, Firefly Distillery and the Sazerac Company formed a joint venture to produce Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka at Sazerac's Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky.
