Update 1
Star Wars Rise Of Skywalker is heading to Disney Plus from 4th May
Disney has decided to open up a free trial to help you decide if the service is for you.

The bonus is that you automatically get a free trial as soon as you sign up – you don’t need to do anything else other than register an email address on the official Disney+ site.

You can even sign up using your chosen device, be that a games console, smartphone, tablet, Smart TV, or Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Just go through the process of setting up an account, enter your details (including your bank details, but don’t worry – you won’t be charged), and then you will be able to enjoy seven days of binging on the house.

You will be automatically charged once those seven days are up though, so make sure you cancel the subscription if you don’t want to continue watching, or keep in mind that the money will automatically come out of your account if you want to keep it.

Great timing based on the current ‘lockdown’! Happy watching.

You mean there's not much on there that appeals TO YOU. I've just signed up and struggling to pick what to watch first. There's an overwhelming amount of content and as a huge fan of most things Disney this is like a dream come true. Can't believe how good value this is at just six quid a month.

Just a heads up don’t expect it to Match American Library exactly though, for example so Mandalorian is one episode a week exactly like America did last November, instead of putting it on all in one go, so right now you couldn’t watch all of the Mandalorian on your free trial, also Frozen 2 is not out until July etc

Other than that if you have no interest in those, go for it

Plenty on there to keep me and the fam entertained. Shame I missed the cash back grrr but still worth £50. Hopefully we get 4K back before too long.

It's playing 4k for me. The first Star Wars looks great in 4k.

As soon as they have taken enough market share, as soon as their subscriber base is established - subscribers will find prices raising to £9.99, and then to £15. Why?, because Disney want some of that Netflix-esque original content subscriber funded sweet cherry pie.

Yeah, and when and if that happens I will just unsubscribe. The fact is that this is superb value in the PRESENT. Any hypothetical price increase in the distant future has no bearing on how good value it is RIGHT NOW.

That's patently absurd of Disney to hold back the other 4 episodes when the entire series has run its course in the US.

At least the bulk of the MCU is on +, with the exception of the 2 Tom Holland Spiderman films. And Ed Norton's Hulk. Which no-one really cared about

No but if you’re watching on a iPad or tablet download a VPN and change the country to USA, then it will work. A lot more content on the USA one too.

Here’s a little tip to get the app on your LG smart TV

Go to your location settings in the TV menu and change your location to Netherlands. Confirm, TV will restart, then in the LG content store if you search for Disney app you’ll find it. Install it, then go back and change your location settings to auto again. The Disney app will stay installed

same here. Combination of Netflix, Prime, and Disney and all much better and cheaper than Sky. Even better if you can share the cost with family or friend(s)

Netflix on Sky is a much-better implementation.Definitely take the free-trial before signing-up.BIGGEST issue for me is lack of 4K content when compared to all of the goodies the USA gets.

I think it's to do with the Corona and the use of broadband services in these challenging times

They are lowering the bandwidth utilization so UHD formats and Dolby Atmos audio is limited
  33. joannebradley77's avatar
Shame UK customers can’t watch frozen 2 till July where as USA, Canada. Australia. Netherlands and many other countries can watch now.....😡😡😡😡

Right, some Day#1 observations on content quality quality via my own Sky Q, LG and Samsung Smart TV Apps.

    Sky Q (main box).
Content appears to be 1080P-only. Interface is the slowest to load and is very clunky. App takes 15-20 seconds to load. No HDR and no Dolby Atmos. Mini-boxes perform almost identically.

    Samsung KS7000 (2016 model 49" 4K)
Content is 1080P-only (despite TV supporting 4K). HDR10 is supported along with 5.1 audio. No Dolby Atmos (expected due to TV model/age). Interface is fast and smooth. IQ is slightly-better than Sky.

    LG C9 (2019 model 55" 4K)
Lots of 4K content with full HDR and Dolby Atmos support. Interface is fastest and smoothest to load, with IQ and sound quality clearly the best of my bunch. Even the original Star Wars films look and sound so much better.

Conclusion - If you own a recent 4K Smart TV, then you are better-off using the TV App rather than Sky Q. Sky Q is poorest quality and most cumbersome to use. Things may improve with future Sky updates. I guess Samsung deliberately hold back 4K content from 2016-model TV's to leverage customers into buying a newer model. Netflix is 4K on both Sky Q and my Samsung, so there is no technical reason not to support it. Nothing (not even the LG App) comes close to 4K Blu-ray quality (Blu-ray uses MUCH higher bitrates).

    Trialed it.
    Won't be buying!
    Nothing on!
    Seen majority of it already.
Anything that is new doesn't appeal and looks terrible.

No rise of skywalker (the reason I did the trial)

Only watched lady and the tramp...the only good thing on the app that's new and I hadn't seen.

Very disappointing launch of the app!

I feel sorry for the people who are now stuck in new sky contracts for getting this haha

How is this even a deal???

A trial should be a standard part of ANY service such as this, and in many other online areas.
In fact, 7 days should be the minimum.
This getting heat is genuinely pathetic
