Bought this a couple of days ago along with an i5-13500 from them and then got a case, DDR5, NVMe and PSU from Amazon.

Should be a decent enough machine for my needs.

My main machine is a 13500 on an ASRock B760M Pro RS board and it's SO much better than my work 9th gen i9 laptop that it's painful. I thought I was getting a bargain when I got that board for £145 in May, granted it does have PCIE-5 for when that becomes a thing but I'm totally happy with this purchase for my partner's son and his GTX 1070.

Will this work with a AMD 3990X ?

I've been waiting for the price of the i5 K processors to drop but it's not going to happen. Together with the price of a Z790 motherboard, I'm not going to be able to afford/justify the price of a decent Intel i5 or i7 K processor system so I'm on the verge of buying this motherboard and settling for a less expensive processor.

Question is though which one?

Depends on your needs I guess.
I went for the 13500 as it's the cheapest with UHD770 iGPU so although it is not a cheap CPU, it doesn't need a GPU for my use case, even with reasonable video editing it's more than capable enough. So I guess I'm saving money!
At least that's my man maths to justify over £200 on a cpu that most of the time will be a few chrome tabs and a few excel spreadsheets.
