Details

Meet Pixel 7a, engineered by Google. Bringing you super selfies, all-day battery life, and super-speedy 5G connectivity. The Pixel camera takes amazing photos and videos, even in low light. And no need to worry about security either – the Tensor G2 chip and built-in VPN by Google One help protect your personal data. Pixel 7a is fast, secure, and built to perform.

5G capability
Say bye-bye to buffering. The super-fast 5G-ready connection zips through downloads at record pace. Stream, browse, and watch whatever you want, wherever you want. Waiting forever for your Instagram feed to load up will be a distant memory.

Brilliant cinematic screen
The Pixel 7a’s screen brings you gorgeously lush visuals. Its 6.1 inch OLED display comes HDR-enabled and supports up to 90Hz refresh rate. Put in plain English (don’t worry, we had to look up half of that too), you’ll get rich, real-world colour and contrast, and smooth scrolling on a clear, bright, cinema-aspect screen.

The brains behind Pixel 7a
The Google Tensor G2 chip makes it faster, more efficient and more secure than the previous generation (Pixel 6a), with improved audio on phone calls, great battery life, and amazing photo and video quality.

Security a priority
With Google Tensor G2 and the certified Titan M2 chip, Pixel 7a is built with multiple layers of security to help keep your personal info safe.

At a glance
At a Glance shows you useful info at the right time, like weather alerts, when it's time to leave for a flight, and your boarding pass at the airport (requires the Gmail app).

Simply touch to unlock
With face unlock and the on-screen fingerprint sensor, you can instantly log in to your apps and websites without compromising on security.

Perfected Pixel photos
Pixel 7a's dual rear camera system with advanced image processing can take amazing pictures in low light, fix blurry photos, and remove distractions thanks to Magic Eraser (requires Google Photos app). And you can get up close without the need for an extra telephoto lens with 8x Super Res Zoom.

Real Tone, great looks
Real Tone represents more skin tones beautifully, authentically and accurately in photos, videos and Meet video calls.

Dust, drop and splash resistant
Whether it’s a quick dip in the bath or just checking out the streets (literally), our phones go through a lot. Thankfully, the Pixel 7a safeguards you from any little oops, with IP67 water and dust resistance. The screen also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, so it’s tough, less prone to scratches, plus it’s resistant to those pesky fingerprints.

The battery that lasts
Pixel's Adaptive Battery can last over 24 hours. Turn on Extreme Battery Saver, and the battery can last up to 72 hours. And your Pixel supports fast charging.

Save yourself the hassle and just get Currys to price match it at £299.

Tried and tested and it worked
    Katsuno_'s avatar
Just tried it and they said no🥲, said it was on finance and thus won't be able to price match
  2. abuishere's avatar
I followed the advice on here and called currys to enquire about the price match. They were able to reduce it to 299£. Thanks for the tip

How did you manage it as i was got fobbed off with T&C waffle:

Thanks for your patience! I regret to inform you that we are unable to do the price match with Vodafone as there is a mandate condition to buy airtime plan. We have mentioned in our price match terms & conditions that we do not match the price with Airtime plans.

Thanks very much for posting this deal. My old phone kicked the bucket and no problems getting this and cancelling the airtime. New phone for £297 🙌

Do you call customer service to pay off device charge after you received your phone and do you cancel sim plan in the same call?
    Tuta's avatar
    Author
Yes call CS to pay it off after receipt

You can cancel SIM right after you get confirmation (ideally email) that device is paid off

I ended up getting the offer in the end from EE store for £329. Its only a little bit more expensive than this and no messing about. Plus I tried this Vodafone offer and its messed up. I kept failing the credit check, despite never being in debt in my life! What a crock of rubbish.
    BraddersJ's avatar
Ironically, it's because you've never had debt that you failed the check!

Might be worth checking out Experian as I was in the same boat. Ultimately it didn't matter for my mortgage though

Edit: just saw your comment above. Not sure about that! (edited)

I got this deal but I am having trouble paying off the device plan in full - they are telling me on the phone that I need to wait for the first DD payment to be taken before I can do that - that takes me pretty close to the end of the cooling off period to cancel the sim plan. Anyone else had any similar troubles?
    dave_yes's avatar
I've had trouble with them to say the least. That particular hurdle hasn't been put in my way, but then everyone I speak to has a different reason as to why they cannot/will not help so if I did keep calling, I am sure I'd find someone who would make up the "wait for the DD" thing too.

I've learned that nothing good can come from talking to Vodafone staff. Set up an account online and pay the device plan off via that, there is a button there and it takes no time at all. It tellsy ou you will receive an email confirming your device plan is paid off. They don't mean immediately - this is Vodafone after all - but apparently at some point before the end of the day. And even after you have paid it off your online account will still show the full amount payable- again, this is Vodafone. Give them an opportunity to display incompetence, and they will grab it.

Don't bother with the call center or the stores. I've spent hours and hours over many phone calls and conversations with in-store staff. They are, uniformly, a shower. Special mention to in-store staff who are aggressively clueless. Avoid as best you can having to deal with Vodafone, it is frustrating beyond belief.

I have successfully got this deal! Some issues to raise though, so you can be aware.

There appears to be no issue with paying off the device immediately and cancelling the airtime plan using the 14 day cooling off period.

I opted to pick up the phone from my local shop and the guy giving me the phone didn't know that you could pay the device plan off (so, the remaining £108 if you selected the 3 month device plan). He seemed to think I could only pay the phone off after three months. When I showed him the early repayment clause in the device plan contract, he was stumped, and said that he didn't know you could do that and that I should ring customer services to go ahead with it.

I subsequently spent 25 mins or so on the phone with someone, getting over some issues (you can pay the £189 for the phone upfront on a credit card but you can only pay the balance on a debit card). And it looks as though the two 'failed' attempts to process my payment details were in fact successful and showing as pending on my bank app.

I then got sent around in circles for another 40 minutes or so trying to cancel by quoting the 14 day cooling off period, various confused sounding folks on the other end of the line, I finally managed to get it done and quite hilariously the call got cut off, presumably as the guy processed the disconnection.

I am now on the phone for the third time trying to recover £216 that has been charged to my debit card.

Overall, I think it's worth it for the £100 saving. I did try to get a price match from Currys, first guy was happy to do it and the line went dead right as I was about to pay. Second and third guy refused, quoted some T&C stuff at me, back and forth about what I would have to do to get the actual phone for £297, managers said they couldn't help.
    dave_yes's avatar
What did you get when you canceled the airplan? I've just been sent a return label for the phone.
  9. sosolidapps's avatar
seem bit too good to be true as they're selling Google 7a pay as you go at £449 so suspect they retain right to ask for the handset back (with refund of whatever you paid) when you cancel the sim contract

    Did you read the description?
  10. Basel's avatar
But you get a hard check on your credit history
    Add_to_Basket's avatar
And the problem with that is??
  11. sosolidapps's avatar
that's where vodafone does have right to demand the handset back as it is part of the contract deal, maybe some will get lucky & keep the handset but it is a risk. just pointing it out as your title is misleading as there is no 1 month sim contract option there

If you read the deal description, you'll see the answer to your question. Most people will pay £9 for the SIM only those who pursue Vodafone for a pro-rata refund will get it (VF aren't proactive in this regard) and the pro rata will be max £4.5 so not misleading at all just signaling the reality for those who take a punt on this deal

Jesus wept. I am STILL fighting this. 45 mins on the phone tonight, endless chat with the the online team. They are going to send me a return label. Any idea why? I told them umpteen times that I just want to cancel my airtime plan within the 14 days.

I have been sent a return label. has anyone else received this? (edited)

First time sub £300 if they allow you to buy one outright in store as I did with 2 Pixel 6 phoned or also if you pay off in full over the phone and then use 14-day cooling off to cancel the airtime plan as I also did BF 2021 on a third Pixel 6.

How do you get the student discount part?
    Tuta's avatar
    Author
The *possible* is via student beans/unidays etc they are offering 10% off.

I don't have access to them so not sure if it's a code or affiliate link provided either way it's a possibility, would be good for someone with access to test that would mean £30 discount making it £270ish
  21. sosolidapps's avatar
only 12 or 24 month sim contract option appear without the one month sim option so plz let us know if that was offered when you called vodafone?

Very good price. Anyone have this phone and recommend, I have the pixel 7, looking for one for my missus

Get another 7, the 7a is built very cheaply built in comparison.

Absolute joke. I went through the sign up but failed the credit check. This is despite owning my house outright, earning 50k per year and never being in debt in my life. I have a cashback credit card that I pay in full every month and just paid for a brand new car with cash. Its a total joke!
