having installed & used this now my guess is a significant reason the auto reeling fails prematurely is how people operate it

for example if you let the reel back in operate in an uncontrolled fashion it then its far more likely to break it prematurely

my plan is always to manually assist the reel back in to prevent to much stress being placed on the mechanism

Anybody got one and knows if the hose is any good? Looks like it may potentially be quite cheap and prone to kinking. I’ve got the Aldi one which is great and never kinks, but is a bit too short.

mine arrived & the hose isnt prone to kinking

will have to see if the retracting mechanism lasts or not

its also a lot greener in colour than in the picture which looks better (edited)

Even the expensive brand name ones don't have great reviews, I've never seen one with reviews that suggest the mechanisms are reliable.

That said, if it's the same price as a normal hose I guess you don't have much to lose.

Had a hose lock one for years, never had any issues with it, just don’t mistreat it

Looks very like the Aldi one that I bought for £30. But its 25m I believe.

Couldn't live without my hozelock one. They are so much better than manual reels.
