Good find - but this shouldn’t be in the ‘hottest today’ section as it’s not available yet. Can this be fixed please admins?

They always do this with epic; and cause of the way this site is laid out; it will be nowhere to seen next week when it's actually active. (edited)

    Yes.

HW & HW2 are games from 20+ years ago.
While the remasters do significantly increase the minimum specs, they're still hardware friendly and will run perfectly fine on anything remotely modern, even on integrated graphics.

I've played a lot of video games over the last few decades, but the intro to Homeworld with 'Adagio for Strings' is still one of the most memorable gaming moments I've ever had. I wish more games used music in such an effective way.

I bought the game with the novella that gave the backstory before the game starts. It shows the trials and tribulations of humanity before testing the hyperdrive and it adds a depth to the intro that I don’t think has been beaten since. A true classic in every sense of the words, especially if you can get a hold of that story

The original Homeworld was/is one of the most stunning games I have ever played. I do have the remastered versions, as I got them free when I bought Deserts of Kharak on Steam. Unfortunately I've switched to console gaming so my PC is really just a work machine now. But everyone that has a PC should try this game.
    Orioninaspin's avatar
I’ve only just discovered Deserts of Kharak, I thought it was both a great story (and one hell of a long intro to the first home world!) and a great game in its own right. Completed it in a week which for a man with two kids, wife and working is somewhat of a record for me! Well worth a go…

Came here to say I always wanted to play this but have little time so will give it a pass now (must be time intensive) but after reading all the comments I'm being sucked back in (edited)

It's actually not too bad from a time perspective. Do it - it's an absolute classic and one of my all-time favourite games.

But what took longer, the remastering of the game or the Epic launcher loading the page.

I’ve been meaning to give Homeworld a go since PC Gamer were raving about it in the dying days of the 90s. Maybe I’ll actually get around to it now that it’s free.

exactly the same with me lol

I love these type of games but I've never even heard of them!
It looks quite similar to Particle Fleet and Creeper World games which I recommend to those who like top view RTS games

thx, that's great to know, unfortunately i've never played it before, checked some videos out it looks interesting. Is HW2 a big improvement over the first game?

I have fond memories of the original. Hopefully the remaster won't spoil them XD. I've heard mixed things about it. (edited)

    Fleet command online.

Great game, which I remember fondly and still have the CDROM copy of (though no CD drive).

If playing the game, I'd suggest using your mothership within your attack fleets when possible (it's a great anti-fighter capital ship with it's upgraded weaponry), though obviously keep it protected! (edited)

Anyone else experiencing ridiculously low frame rates (I mean less than 10 FPS) on relatively high-end hardware?

    I get that behaviour on a Win10 laptop, Core i5-7300HQ, 8gb, GTX 1060

GPU drivers are updated, the exe is definitely assigned to the GPU, I've tried forcing it into single-threaded mode with -onethread and also done the same in Task Manager.

It still runs like a dog with one leg, even on the initial "Homeworld Remastered" screen, straight after the Launcher.
