Huawei has the Mate50 Pro on sale for £819.98 with code A10OVSMAY which includes the 42mm Huawei GT3 smartwatch and a 27W wireless car charger. Even if you don't want the watch, paying the £9.99 included in the deal price and then reselling it brings back some money.

Also you can get 8% cashback with TopCashBack, so the effective price would be £754.

The Mate50 Pro's main feature is its camera. The phone can be found in the top 5 of DXOMark.
Besides the main camera with 50.0 megapixels f/1.4-f/4.0, PDAF, Laser AF and OIS, there is also a 64 megapixel telephoto lens with 90mm (equivalent to 3.5x optical zoom), so you have a real zoom. There is also a 13 megapixel 120˚ ultra-wide angle lens.

If you are worried about missing Google Apps, you can add them with GSPACE and GBOX.

Huawei was my best phone I ever had but without Google services it's a deal breaker.

No play store, no 5g, last gen processor. Not worth it sadly 👎

Such a shame they lost Google services. Huawei phones were getting so good up til that point. Their designs and hardware are top quality but without Google its basically unusable in the west. (edited)

Would love to see what the phone market would be like now if Huawei never lost GMS.

I'm still using my Huawei Mate 20 Pro from O2 Refresh deal posted here back in 2019, which I think I paid around £230 and it was brand new.

If it wasn't for the lack of Google Services I'd definitely have another Huawei as this has been faultless and still takes great photos.

Bought an Oppo Find X5 as its replacement (another HotUKDeal), although haven't swapped over yet. (edited)

I went from a P30 to a Find X2. HotUKDeals chooses for us.

Voted hot despite the shortcomings as the others have already mentioned.
If not for them, would be at the very top of my list as a replacement for my P30 Pro (that £260 one on O2 Refresh in late 2019)! (edited)

Not Google but rather the American Government are blocking Google Play on Huawei hardware.

Love my Mate 20 pro from the o2 refresh deal , I still use it more than my pixel 7. I may sell the pixel and go back to it.

I had a p40 pro and I managed to get Google services on it and honestly it's the best phone I've ever had. My dad's just got a s22 ultra but the p40 pro still beats it for picture quality. Unfortunately the phone updated and I lost the Google services which I couldn't live without. Without the Google services I can't get alerts on security cameras or doorbell and can't use geofencing on tado heating amongst other things.

No doubt incredible hardware and it is a decent design but it is a complete no go without Android

They will just have to pump thier superior tech in to thier Honor brand as they have been doing

Honor was sold off to private investors , so they're completely seperate which means they can use Google services etc

I don't mind avoiding Google ... but not having 5g is kind of bummer.
Can't Huawei add separate 5g chip instead of stacking on SOC and avoid US ban ?

I thought all Huawei mega fans only cared about the camera? That's all they ever bang on about in other phone threads. (edited)

Their fast charging was also top notch whilst £1k iPhones are stuck in 2017 with 20W 'lightning' ports

You could get a pixel pro at Thai money. Wouldn’t touch this with a barge pole.
