Pass, sound quality and the mixing are not the usual Jeff standard. Hold on tight to your memories of the good ol' days.

I agree, on CD it sounds dreadful. Such a muddy sound. It's such a shame as the songs are great. (edited)

I have had this album for over a year now and the more I listen the better it sounds. We can all wish for ELO in the 70s, 80s, and so on, but like us Jeff is getting older and maybe he needs to slow down in llife and musically. It's a definite yes from me. I see one track meaning a lot to many people for years to come... "I'm Losing you" Rock on ELO

I read once that John Lennon said 'If the Beatles were around today they would sound like ELO.' Paul Gambaccini, whose article it was dismissed John by saying 'If the Beatles were around today they would sound much better than ELO.'

I like the early ELO myself, 'Brrrrp Brrrrp' being my favourite song.

Jeff is an absolute Legend to me, but I don't always agree with his musical choices. Hey, it's his music, he's the boss. I disagree when he says that synth strings are just as good as real strings. To my ears they are inferior. I also disagree with the way he produces his later music into a flat, compressed, muddy sound. Think this started with Zoom though I think Balance of Power may have been slightly creeping in that direction if memory serves. Listening to those crisp, punchy, analogue albums of the 1970's on vinyl, make me long for a similar production of his recent music. Much as I'd like this record, it's probably just the same muddy digital sound on a different format. I am delighted he is still producing music, of course, and his songwriting is still strong, but I guess I am just being greedy.

This is a fantastic deal by the way. I'll probably weaken and buy this. :-) (edited)
