What’s the big fuss about these? Is it just a smoker?

You can use these for smoking, low and slow, hot and fast, everything really. They are really fuel efficient because of the ceramic insulation.
There are cheaper kamado's on the market for sure, but they are all roughly the same.
The bonus of having a kamado Joe is the accessories you get with it, and the extra ones on the market that are designed to fit it, if you want them.

Anybody have this and the classic 2? Is the classic 2 worth the extra 400-500£?

I'd say not, my bro has the classic 1. The difference is the air lift hinge, clip on the lid (due to airlift hinge), fibreglass gasket and different top vent. The classic now comes with the multi panel firebox. They shouldn't make a difference to how great they cook.

First thing I’d do is buy a big green egg!

This is a good price for a great Kamado. But bbqs may be even cheaper this autumn as sales in general are poor this year, lots of stock about and it needs to be shifted.

TBH, I've got enough barbecues albeit all Weber. Would love a proper clay tandoor instead of this. Would love to make my own tandoori chicken and nan bread the proper way.

    Does it fly?
    blootoon763's avatar
Well at that price then it will be flying out the door, cheapest I have seen for a while.

    Wow very tempting!

I would get one but so heavy 105 kg and have no way to set it up or enough strong friends.

That's so sad to hear....let me suggest something. The weight is very heavy generally, but with the fire bowl, grills, shelves and chimney removed from the main kamado unit, the weight is much more manageable and you should be able to (either independently or with a single friend) lift the kamado onto the stand in your chosen location. Then place it all back together again and voila Go for it 😁 (edited)

Why do they only come in red and not black?
    AlphaFox's avatar
That's their signsture colour. Lile the big green egg is always green.

Just tried one similar (Kamado Bono) for a first time, had some issues with adjusting temperature but ended with one of the best shashliks ever made. Could be just luck but could be that thing is great 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is this a better deal than the Classic 2 on the same site?
  18. Tanuki334's avatar
Look at the Oklahoma Joe if you're looking for a combo bbq and smoker

I’ve got 2 x Classic 3 and a Joe Jnr, I use mine multiple times per week! These are worth every penny imo. In fact, I don’t know how I never knew about these previously or what I’d missed! Great bits of kit!
