Amazon have started some of the Spring Sale deals early.

In my opinion the Paperwhite Kids edition 8Gb is the best choice.
in comparison to the standard Paperwhite it includes
- No adds
- Free cover
- 2 year "worry free" guarantee
- 1 Yr Amazon Kids+ subscription (you don't need to use this if you don't want to)

16Gb edition also available, but IMO not worth the extra unless you are listening to audiobooks on it. 8Gb is plenty for just ebooks.

Other Kindle offers are
Kindle Paperwhite Kids 16Gb - £124.99
Kindle Kids £89.99
Kindle Paperwhite (with ads) Denim 16Gb - £114.99

20% off also available if you trade in an old kindle device.

I'm pondering between paperwhite and normal. Is there a big deference, is it worth it?

Paperwhite is larger and heavier, so if you read with it one handed you really notice the difference (in a bad way) however the screen is far superior, with different warmth levels and adaptive brightness. It's also water resistant.

For me, I can read for hours on my paperwhite with zero eye strain and it's so enjoyable. My partner struggles with the extra weight as she holds it one handed so for her she prefers to use the smaller normal kindle.

How does it differ to the non kids version?
    The_First_Don's avatar
Add free, get 2 years warranty (only 1 year for the non kids version) and one year free of Amazon kids

Do you have to put up with any restrictions. If I get the black version will I be able to buy any adult book, install foreign language dictionaries and integrate with Audible or will I get told to buy an adult kindle?

No restrictions. If you skip setting up the kid profile then it just works exactly the same as a non kids kindle.

Anybody done a trade in with a scratched screen kindle. Did you get the 20% off?
    LauraR2012's avatar
You’ll still get 20% off. It’s just the extra voucher for the Kindle that will be reduced if it’s scratched.

I've got one of these (fortunately with a black cover)

Absolutely fantastic. I couldn't do without it. I think I paid about a tenner less on Prime day in 2022.

Still a great deal at this price.

    Can you remove the cover?

I'm interested in getting a kindle, although I still have lots of physical books still on my unread pile! How good a deal is this and are better deals likely to appear around prime day/Black Friday/Christmas? As I'm happy to wait a while longer due to my unread pile.

Same price as when I bought it on sale last year. Its great. Comes with cover and two year warranty. Use it for myself. No ads. (edited)

Hot and tempted. I have two five year old kobos working perfectly well. Anyone care to offer an opinion on if it's worth changing to a kindle? I find the kobos responses a little slow tbh, other than that they're okay.

To get the 20% discount with trade in - do you have to trade in and wait for assessment first? This will miss the offer deadline of Monday? I hlam trading but cannot see the 20% applied on purchase?

When I traded in, yes you had to wait. It came through only about 2 days later for me, but this was a few years ago (and outside of a amazon deal period so probably less busy). Not sure what the situation is now with trade in times...
