anyone any experience on this model? Tired of buying usb drives only to find they transfer at 1MB/s

On the Amazon listing they have a CrystalDiskMark image from a user review - shows 10.46MB/s sequential write, so these are really slow for writing to. I think if you want a stick that writes at a decent speed you'll need to spend a lot more.

Here's the thing- the LEAST reliable flash is found in these 'keys'. They fail (under significant use) at a terrible rate.

IF you want external flash that is useful, and can be written to many times, get an SSD or NVMe and put it in a caddy (or get a version sold already in a caddy). The SSD and NVMe products are engineered a million times better than any lousy stick/key, work infinitely better on the writes, and are no more expensive per TB. Please stay away from the key/stick unless that robust 'portability' is all you care about, and the data held can easily be replaced.

The prices are getting to the point that unless you really want the tiny tiny portability of a usb key, you're totally right.

There are times you just want to put something on a memory stick as a last ditch backup though, or transfer small files in the office, so I guess these are here to stay for now!

Hmm, bought Kingston usb 3 dongles (not this particular one) before and snail pace writing - think I’ll stay away from anything branded K from now on..life too short to be waiting 5mins for a 100mb transfer… (edited)

Yeah, same. good drives, but slow compared to sandisk etc. always look for the write speed before buying...

Just bought this yesterday...Ripped packaging to get it open, grr. Amazon probs won't care but somehow I don't think these speeds are correct? lol

    Seems slow, no?

Edit: test with h2testw to determine if they are fake or not h2testw.org/

Wow, what system & OS did you try it in?!
My write result for this is much better on a 2010 USB3 mobo & Win7...

Slowest drives known to man !
I returned a couple of exodia 64gb late last year - too slow.
They'll end up giving them away in cerial boxes - I still wouldn't touch them.
There's no minimum speed with usb3 - unlike the U3 , V30 etc. sd standards

I don’t buy drives on Amazon. Too many fakes.

Never had a single problem with ones sold by Amazon themselves.

Thanks. Bought the 256GB one. They may not be the fastest but from experience Kingston USB sticks do tend to be reliable.

Great deal, but it is annoying how eBuyer can send these with next day ParcelForce, yet if you order from their website they want £5 delivery costs.

These are S&D by Amazon. I think you meant this comment for the Crucial RAM deal hotukdeals.com/dea…886 - seems like £1.51 & 3-day delivery for the RAM at eBuyer currently, spend over £50 & it's free so 4x modules are free delivery direct from them.
