    I've just been scratching my head trying to work out how this thing works. At first glance, it looks like squeezing the handles would OPEN the jaws. I guess that's because it is only shown in the "locked on" state, when it has gone over-centre and would indeed by trying to open the jaws, if it could move any further in.

    None of my pipe wrenches have a locked on capability. I reckon that alone is worth the extra - never mind the quality of Knipex, which is top notch. There have been times when I just haven't been able to keep the handles squeezed together for long enough, on mine. Usually, I just go find my even larger pair..
    I did notice that it is only shown with steel/iron pipes and fittings. I dread to think what those jaws and that mechanical (or is it maniacal) advantage would do to brass ones...

    Heat added - it looks like someone has invented a better mousetrap.....

    I received this today.

    It works a bit like some of their other wrenches - you push a button in, and then the jaws can slide.
