This has a Zen2 processor with 4 cores and cut down vega igpu. I'd prefer a Ryzen 3 4300u from early 2020. (edited)

It doesn't have a vega igpu (it's RDNA 2), the Zen 2 cores are made using 6nm process and are fast and efficient. Ryzen performance depends a lot on the memory speed and this laptop has very fast memory. The CPU can be upgraded in the configurator anyway, but say for a student the 7320U is good enough.

To be honest, £280 for this system isn't bad, the CPU naming is deceptive (I hate how they've done it) but the entry-level IPS display is nice, the CPU will still perform well and everything else is about right for a modern entry-level laptop. No OS has clearly cut some money off it and it's Education Store so won't be for everyone. At under £300, there probably isn't an obviously better choice for a new machine.

This is an okay deal for light work load and browsing. Main positive is 8GB of RAM!

Looks like the price is £336?

Whichever way, the same model (16” screen version) was available last week for £280, with the 13th generation i3 processor:

AMDs 7000 numbering scheme is absolutely stupid, it's deceiving on purpose to make people buy last gen rebranded chips.

What do I need to setup an account on the education portal?
