How are these rated? Where are the quick specs people usually post on here?

Superb drive. DRAM-less but can still outperform drives like the 980 Pro/SN850.

This or Samsung 970 EVO?
The.Fatter.Cat
This, 100%. It's not just the higher gen4 sequential speeds, the random read&write speeds/IOPS are higher too. That's what's important for general performance (OS/apps/games).
Not that it matters, but it also has higher endurance ratings (only matters for those thrashing drives with enough writes for it to be an issue, like 4/8k video editing).
That said, there is a cheaper alternative for 1/2TB drives that seem to fly under most peoples radar. The Lexar NM710. It has basically the same controller but with lower sequential speeds (still faster than gen3). General performance matches the NM790 and other high end drives so it's ideal for any use except for those that need the higher sequential speeds (sustained large file writes/transfers).
The only downside is there is no 4TB version at the moment but if someone is looking for 1/2TB drives I'd highly recommend them. (edited)

Does this come with heat sink included for ps5?
The.Fatter.Cat
No heatisnk. The £7'ish ones on Amazon are perfectly fine, don't be fooled into buying bigger more expensive ones (like the Sabrent one a couple of people here recommend), drives in the PS5 don't create a lot of heat often enough to warrant a big heatsink.
Do you still need to buy a separate/compatable heat sink for this, if its going into a PS5? (edited)

It's definitely recommended, easily get a decent one off Amazon sub £10

Superb drives, have bought a couple of the 1/2TB versions for builds recently.
Deal has gone now but you'll get very similar performance from the fanxiang S880 which is the same price from the fanxiang ebay store (dispatched from UK) - ebay.co.uk/itm…0Yg
Still, even at the higer price the NM790 is a nice deal. (edited)
