Avanti West have further reduced their Superfare tickets from London to Birmingham (and vice versa). A one way ticket is now £9. A Superfare ticket allows you to book your journey for a specific date, and choose to travel in the morning, afternoon, or evening at a cheaper fare, but their exact time of departure will be selected by the rail operator. You can only book 7 – 21 days before your departure date. Could be an option if looking for a lower price train ticket and have some flexibility in the time you travel.
Example Birmingham New Street to London Euston
Example London Euston to Birmingham New Street

From their T&Cs: "Your ticket is only valid for travel to and from the destination on your ticket. You cannot get off or on at an earlier stop."
Does anyone know if this is actually enforced in practice?
blahblahblah1234
The only issue might be with automated ticket barriers. If you get on or off earlier than the stop on your ticket, you'll find the barriers won't let you in or out, and the ticket inspector might ask you to buy a new ticket. Otherwise, if there's no barriers, I guess there's nothing to stop you getting off early and walking out the station.

Just a general note about reliability, in the last week I did a split fare return trip from Blythe Bridge to Newcastle which was Blythe Bridge ,- Stoke - Manchester - Newcastle - Carlisle ,- Crewe - Blythe Bridge . Every Train ran on time.I had a seat on all trains and total cost £41 (edited)

So when you select Morning, Afternoon or Evening, is that just a preference, or will the train they pick for you be within one of those times?
blahblahblah1234
You'll definitely get a train time in the slot you pick. The purpose of this offer is to fill empty seats on less busy trains. If you pick morning, it'll most likely be 7am. If you pick evening, it's most likely to be 9pm. Obviously, it could be any other time within the timeframe of each slot, but you have to expect them to put you on the least busy train in each time slot. If you don't mind that, then you'll get a good deal.

Is this HS2? Heat!!!

Could do with a good line from London to Leeds and Manchester

A more eye-catching title would be London-Glasgow £30. Or to Liverpool £15.
Uranus
But then we wouldn't have all the HS2 jokers in the thread.
rprp
London to Birmingham one-way. No wonder it's only £9.
toffee37
Maybe this smart guy doesn't travel much. Maybe he doesn't realise that a Stansted or Luton airport train from London is £30-35 & that this IS a good deal.

Cheaper than HS2
WelshWire
everything's cheaper than HS2!
purple_crystal
Is this the HS2 one

I have one way tickets for two persons (Birmingham New Street to London Euston) for Sunday 22/10 and between 17.00 - 21.00 ...selling at 12 quid
Plans changed and would like to recover some of it. Please buzz if interested
SpeedbirdB777
Wouldn’t a super fast train in the other direction be more useful?
bkpatel
Honest question. If you have trains that do these trips why spend billions on HS2 disrupting the countryside?
jimbo23
Go there and you'll be running back.

Surley going from Burmingham to London is a downgrade?
Proveright
Thanks OP. They forgot to tell you about roll up a trouser leg and jump through a hoop? Once you get to Euston it will cost you £9 or more to get anywhere else?
bnwubnfguisr
Did they forget about Milton Keynes?
blahblahblah1234
And Carlilse, Oxenholme, Stockport, Rugby, Wolverhampton, and a few others.

Hi, is kids under five travelling with this for free?
Chanchi32

not sure tbh - seems to be two sets of info on their sites
so if you look at faq's on the site says this
'Can I travel with children?Yes of course. However, little ones need a Superfare ticket too at the same price as an adult. Please bear in mind that this means they will have a seat reservation, but we can’t promise you’ll be in the same carriage as this is subjective to availability. Please make sure you check your seat allocations before travelling. If you have any seating requests, please ring our call centre on 0345 528 0253.'
However if you look on their main site it says something slightly different
Do I have to pay for my child’s ticket? If you’re travelling with little ones under the age of five, you don’t need to book a ticket for them as they travel free of charge with a fare paying adult. Bear in mind that this means they won’t have a seat reservation and might have to sit on your knee if the train is busy.
If you want to ensure that they have a seat of their own, you can book a ticket for them at the standard child fare in the usual way, by going online, using the app, booking in person or calling us.

so weird, you can only buy to/from London
they could sell shorter routes i.e. Birmingham-Glasgow, even if it's the same price as from London (edited)
valuehunter2021
huh!? just buy the London-Glasgow ticket and board at Birmingham then.

Some train companies are also taking part in an overtime ban as well which affects weekends with services cancelled at not much notice
chicaneuk
You couldn't pay me to use the trains any more frankly. Not been on one in four years and the prospect of getting messed around with cancellations and so forth has made it seem like a total lottery. No ta.

Grab it while you can. When HS2 comes online it'll be £200 a ticket.
CharlesLeglerg
The problem is you book the train that far in advance you cant rely on the train running like you used to be able to
