Just browsing the Rubicon Watches website and found this particularly nice looking military style chronograph by Lorus. Looks like it's newly listed. Seems like a good price - I'd buy one if it was a touch smaller; 42mm isn't big but it is a bit large for my skinny wrist!

Lorus is a good quality budget brand within the Seiko group of companies.

100m water resist and a fabric strap so it would be great for swimming and other water sports.
Date window.
Luminous hands.
Stainless steel case.
2 year manufacturer's international warranty.

Maybe take one of these on your holiday rather than risk damage or loss to an expensive watch?

Rubicon is a UK based retailer so no issues with additional taxes, duties and fees and delivery is fast. I've found them to be customer friendly and they accept returns.

Looks like the Seiko I was issued by the RAF...

Lorus is owned by Seiko it probably has the same movement as your RAF issued Seiko military chrono

After they made a chrono for RAF issue, Pulsar released a (very similar) civvie version. Big difference seems to be the seconds sub dial is used for timing (unlike the “true” issue version.)
Someone on Watchuseek recently said that as Pulsar is no longer marketed in Europe, this is basically a rebranded version of that.
So, if you think about it, this is great value for a piece with an interesting backstory.

Looks nice but yeah far too big for me as well, 40mm is my limit, shame

Agreed. I've a number of watches bigger than 40mm and I rarely wear them because they're too big for me (7" wrist). My late 80's TAG Heuer diving watch is 37mm across (considered titchy these days) and it's the perfect size for me personally. (edited)

Owned the pulsar version but returned because the second hand did not hit the markers, it was so obvious it did annoy me, no doubt a mistake now if they are discontinued and will possibly be worth money in the future

I've got 20 year old inexpensive Seiko/Lorus etc and they all hit the markers perfectly but recent quartz watches are terrible for this now. I've got a lovely titanium Citizen diving watch, which retailed for £200+ and it's terrible, literally halfway between the markers, would return it but I don't wear it much (my collection is out of hand, thanks to lockdown) and it's out of warranty I think.
