Legit question please. Why are these so good? Why this vs the typical £100-150 bbq grill? I'm in the market for a new charcoal bbq and have come across these and always wondered why they cost so much?

These beasts are made out of ceramic inside which holds heat very well, they reach well over 300 degrees c and hold it for several hours on very small amounts of charcoal , and you have full control on temp and smoke ratios. Once you start cooking with one of these is top level cooking. If you use your 100 quid bbq once or twice a year then don’t bother buying one of these as not worth it. Just watch videos on YouTube of people cooking on one of these or other brands similar.

If you like me who cooks all year round on it then it’s worth every penny. You can go low and slow for a good stew in the winter and in the summer an nice rotisserie with whole chickens or pork. (edited)

Had ours for about 4 years. If it broke/cracked I’d immediately buy another one. Superb at everything it’s designed to do.

Highly recommended plus Costco customer service is second to none.

does this come assembled as with my bad back i know i wont be able to lift it on the stand. Might be able to cut out of the box and wheel round to back garden

Even disassembled, shifting the bottom is a 2 man job really as its an awkward handle and still pretty heavy. (edited)

One piece of advice, the pics show the wheels with the breaks should be next to each other but I've found it moves around slightly. I would advise putting them opposite one another which is what I intend to do, somehow without having to lift the shell....

Can anybody comment on how to empty the ash tray? I cannot find any images or information on how the Louisiana Kamado empties the ash at all.

I took delivery of my LG24 (to replace an Aldi Kamado) and it is huge - much bigger than the AK. Just waiting for somebody to help me lift the body into the stand, so i can finish assembling, but all in all, it looks pretty good.

My only initial negative comment (thus far) is that the lower vent is rather loose / feels cheap - I am not convinced it will allow me to properly control the air intake. This seems a common issue, and having watched a few youtube videos, I have ordered some felt gasket and will "mod" the vent to make it more airtight.

All in all, pleased with my upgrade...

Funnily enough, I also took recent delivery. I'm planning to fix the vent seals immediately.

Where did you get the felt gasket from?

For those that might also need this, a lot of the videos are under the other name of this product K24 Pitboss

Assembly finished and am pretty pleased. The vents do look a bit cheap (I might look to replace the top vent in due course.

If it helps , here are a couple of photos with the Aldi and Louisiana Kamados side-by-side...

The Kamado Joe Jr is a mini kamado at 13" this one is 24" a vast difference in size. Depends on your needs and quantity of food you want to cook

Has anyone got one of these Boss Grills instead? Similar size for similar money and no Costco membership needed

I believe Pit Boss and Louisiana Grills are owned by the same company. The Pit Boss comes with 1 year warranty, the Louisiana come with at least 2 from Costco initially and I believe 5 from Louisianna (so another 3), but a previous purchaser may confirm this for you?

    This grills homepage louisiana-grills.com/pro…k24

It's only £15 for a years online membership with Costco

Again back to previous q&a’s your one is made of thin metal and nothing compared to the heat produced by a ceramic lined bbq. The ceramic bbq you can do lots of things on it’s not just a bbq, it’s a smoker, slow cooker, bbq, pizza oven and much more.

If you don’t use it regular no point in having one.

T&c’s says yea to PayPal so couldn’t see why they wouldn’t, as it’s PayPal that pays Costco in full and you pay PayPal back. Taken off Costco website T&C’s below

We welcome debit cards (UK Maestro, Visa Debit), all major credit cards (Mastercard, American Express and Visa), Apple Pay and PayPal online at www.costco.co.uk. Saved payment method details can continue to work even if your physical card has been replaced by the issuing bank (edited)

If anyone has just taken delivery, could you measure the size of the box? I am really hoping I can persuade the courier to help carry it thought my fairly narrow (71cm) garden gate...

I am beginning to suspect that the box won't fit, so I will have to unpack on the drive and carry it through part by part. I am guessing that the main body is (by definition) 24" in diameter, which will fit - assuming that the shelf hinges can be removed (or need to be added on assembly.

    Crossing fingers...

    P_Spencer's avatar
    P_Spencer
Alright Gopes, bad news is that you will need at least 75cm (750mm) to get it through your gate as my gate is 740mm and they squeezed it through but made a hash of the door lol.

Measurements on the outside edges of the bare top are 66cm (660mm) and that’s the widest part of the egg so as long as someone helps you lifting it you will get it through your gate (edited)
  30. Gopes's avatar
    Gopes
Thanks. Just watched a (US) onboxing video on youtube, and will definitely need to unpack on the drive. But looks like the main body will fit through OK - although will clearly be a 2-man job.

Just out of curiosity, is the latch on the (UK) Kamado magnetic? In the pictures on the CostCo website, the latch looks different from the square/cube shaped latch in the US (see here: louisiana-grills.com/pro…k24).

    Can't wait...
    P_Spencer's avatar
    P_Spencer
It’s the square magnetic latch but it’s really strong and works a treat. Good luck my wife refused to help me and I had to lift the top by myself……a few beers after for reward lmao.

FYI- I did 3 small burns to break the ceramic in but instructions don’t say this. I started with one really small about 150 degrees then second up to 250 and then a large one up to 350 over 3 days letting the ceramic cool naturally on every occasion.

Always use natural fire lighters too as the paraffin used in normal ones taints the ceramic and you end up with it smelling like a petrol station forever.

Would be interested if anyone knows what half deflectors fit please. Googling it, I can only find while divide and conquer grill kits which come with the entire grill set and plates. As this unit already comes with with a full set of grills and a full deflector, I just only want half the deflector for a cook and sear kind of setup. Thanks (edited)
