Previous experience tells me a cheap MOT is often the dearest MOT you can buy...

Not at all. For the last 5 years I've done nothing but £20/£22.50 Groupon MOTs at ATS or ProTyre respectively.

3 years clean MOT with no recommendations, 2 years they noted "brake lines covered in grease" which is something I did myself using a toothbrush+grease to stop corrosion.

So that's 5 years of cheap MOTs on a 2003 140k mile car that really have been cheap!

You wouldn't wish you had one if you had one!

Instead you'd be wondering why the MOT fail at the Mercedes garage is costing £12000 to fix just outside the warranty.

Dealers are con artists, ridiculous fees for standard stuff, got to pay for those amazing looking dealerships.

Is it only for Mercedes cars? BMW due an MOT in the next 2 weeks and Preston is down the road from me.

No garages in Scotland by looks of it.

My MOT is due soon aswell, would have come in handy.

Thanks OP, yes, but, how much per hour do they charge to fix stuff? Then refuse to fit your own parts and insist on OEM parts at their inflated mark up.
