Always reluctant to purchase something that says 'waterproof' instead of 'Gore-Tex'. Never had any joy with 'Waterproof' boots. (edited)

Used to be a big fan of merrells but unfortunately the quality seems to have gone downhill. The last pair lasted about 18 months.

When I went vegetarian 30-something years ago Merrell and Salomon were my go to brands for hard wearing leather-free footwear. I have an 8 year old pair of Merrell trail glove barefoot running shoes still going strong. Everything I have bought recently has gone back. Their prices have gone up, but the quality has gone down. I haven't bought any Salomon recently, but hopefully they're not trading on their past reputation like all the other shoe manufacturers.
