The most stupid thing in the world (well, almost) is having a rotary timer dial on a microwave (edited)

Leave off, my mother in law has an all singing and dancing microwave, you spend longer pressing buttons and listening to annoying beeps than eating the foods you’re warming up.
Who doesn’t want the slam it shut and spin the dial speed of a “basic” microwave.

Not sure why but I find the concept of a manual microwave to be quite amusing. I'm picturing something out of the simpsons. Standing there with a glowing radioactive bar whilst spinning around some tomato soup.

Yeah somewhat cartoonish & oldfashioned, but I know people who prefer these as there is much less to go wrong.
Speaking from my own experience, manual ones have never malfuntioned on me. Can't say the same about digital, where the LEDs & fancy/delicate buttons are usually the 1st things to go kaput.

Got this last year, it does the job just fine, though it is a bit slower than my old microwave but we only use it to heat up leftovers (other than the air fryer).
