sorted bySuspected Tesco customer reported to have unlocked his phone! Beware!
That's the old 8GB, non-LTE one you wally.
Don't be stupid.
Good price for the phone but I won't be interested until a 16gb version comes out and even then it's still not great, 32gb should be the standard on all phones now.
Another tip if you were planning on buying a screen protector - the Motorola logo and other bits of text rub off the plastic layer that it leaves the factory with. It's as clear as a screen protector and only suffers from having the liftable edge in the bottom corner, but aside from that it will keep your screen protected until something ships from eBay (if you're obsessively careful like me!)
I am somewhat reluctant to take technical advice from someone who seems unable to use their keyboard properly...
There's a button marked "Caps Lock" or similar way over on the left side of most keyboards. Please press it until you notice your posts becoming readable.
It is not illegal to SIM unlock a phone in the UK - In America it is via other methods (won't go into it as we're in the UK)
It WON'T void your warranty if you SIM unlock via unlock code. This is how the networks (except iPhones) will do it if you pay them a bigger fee.
It probably will void your warranty if you unlock via other methods, i.e. via an unlocking box. These boxes most the time root your phone to make changes to the system to remove the restriction.
These same type of boxes can also change your IMEI- which is ILLEGAL as that is classed as unblocking. However it is only legal for you to restore your devices IMEI if it gets corrupt using those tools. For example mainly with samsungs if you damage your EFS partition those tools repair it.
I will summerise and say Unlocking your Moto G is Legal
Unblocking is ILLEGAL
Maybe he just lives near an airport or building site?
It's a no-brainer now unless you want to spend silly money on S5/M8/Z2 etc.
4G doesn't use any more power than 3G. And it has 1GB of memory which is perfectly fine. And if you actually meant storage then it has 8GB which can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card. Adding a microSD will not slow the phone down too much as long as you buy a fast-ish card.
Use the internal storage for apps and use the microSD for media files. The camera app should automatically save photos onto the microSD card and any large games should also do the same too.
By the way, some users on XDA-Developers are reporting some issues with Class 10 UHS-1 cards as the Moto G LTE does not support UHS-1 and some cards are not switching to a lower compatibility mode. One card that is confirmed to work is this one amazon.co.uk/Sam…2Y/ but users are recommended to use Class 6 cards in the Moto G LTE. Motorola even say in the spec sheet not to use Class 10 UHS-1 cards

Decided to get them straight SIM-free, as I remembered there was an XDA thread I saw when I rooted the last one I got, the minor 'Tesco' feature was that the voicemail was locked to the Tesco v/mail number, even when SIM unlocked.
See this domoco thread for possibly what the problem was between Tesco Moto G 4.3 and 4.4
When I factored the £10 increase (less £2-ish unlock code) vs the worry of anything going wrong when I'm flashing and re-flashing, I decided to go crazy and spend an extra £8 per handset.
Call me crazy.

I guess you don't know the diff between basic phone & smartphone? Some really stupid people on here. X)
Just ensure you purchase one that is specifically for this model and not the original Moto G.

It is not illegal to unlock a handset in the UK.
**New customer £10 OFF code, TDX-KYNK
Expires 04-08-2014
Went for unlocked even though I know codes readily available cheap.
There's no bloat on my Moto g I bought at Christmas from Tesco.
Well, this is no S4 , it can compete on most things but still, its no S4.

Microsim . Had to order one through EE last night (or you can take it instore)
You have to remember that most people who come up with such ideas at Google or Apple or A.N.Other tech ocmpany live in closeted little worlds based around Silicon Valley where the 4G, Wireless and other connectivity is superb - they have little understanding of the rest of the US let alone of the rest of the world.
I worked for one major tech company where their streaming video was superb in super-fast broadband wirelss Silicon Valley and they all thought it was fantastic - the fact that it was rubbish in the rest of the world had not even occured to them. The thought had not crossed their mind.
Straight up-and-down: No.
I unlocked 3 Moto Gs via eBay code, and have formatted them all several times. All still work across all networks.
Picked mine from Tesco, unlocked with £1.68 code, box comes with a USB cable, 2 shells (Blue & Green).
Impressive performance for the price with no screen lag so far.
Cheapest unlock I can find.
I feel sorry for her...
I think its entirely unfair the abuse you are getting, when obviously no one knows what the law is on your planet.
Brilliant :-) Thanks for posting, I've just updated the details to remind others about the code...
