For those wondering just had confirmation on Starfield premium edition quote Ebuyer ebay customer support:

These will be sent via email up to 5 working days after delivery.

My build is going to go something like this: NR200P Max case, B650E-I mb, 7800x3d, 32gb DDR5 6000 ram, 2tb SSD but do I go for this GPU bringing the build to sub £2k or spend more on a 4080 or wait until a 4090 reaches around £1200... so many thoughts. 4k as close to 120fps as possible to max out my LG C1 OLED would be nice

Is this not same performance as a 3090ti which are cheaper? Not speaking about power draw
    gopolog86's avatar
This is more powerful than a 3090ti

I've purchased this card and put it in my PC yesterday and I've been blown away by it at 4k, it's been a massive upgrade from my 3080. I messaged Ebuyer through ebay asking about the Starfield promo and they've said I should receive my code within 5 days.

If undervolting/overclocking please let us know your getting on, also do you have any recommendations for an am5 b650 motherboard?

I think MSI is one of the lower tiers for the AMD cards, this one has some coil whine and noisy fans at low speeds.

I am fathering the parts for a new RIG currently, so I am tempted

EDIT - Coil WHINE not Coil run (edited)
    XxLJCJxX's avatar
From my hours of research, you are correct. It's on the upper end of the lower tier.

For those on the fence, or thinking about a good 4k card, if you can find a 3090 ti and undervolt it, it may be your best option. Only about an 8FPS difference between it and this card. Also factor in the weird frame time performance due AMD cheaping out with the chiplet design acting strange. AMD had a chance to make a stronger, more powerful monolith chip but decided to cheap out and charge you for the privilege.

You need to factor in driver consistency, DLSS and other features like if you use production apps and don't even remotely consider AMD if you have VR. Don't take advice from people that buy AMD only to play COD.

What on earth are you on about?

    At 4k, the 7900XTX is 26% faster at 4K than the 3090ti:

    techspot.com/rev…tx/

Scroll down towards the end to see the average across all benchmarked games across the 3 main resolutions.

    16% difference here at 4k here: techpowerup.com/rev…tml

Why then take a chance with a used, zero warranty 3090ti? Ok, you could get one used from CEX that come with a warranty but thats going to cost £850. This 7900XTX is cheaper and performs better!

Don't take advice from people that post anti AMD rubbish and provide a screenshot of a YouTube video with no link to the source.

    1. Please share with the community here where the average consumer can purchase a 3090ti for £700 complete with a warranty. Would genuinely like to know
    2. Reviews I linked to show both cards benchmarked in a variety of different games st different resolutions. Folks should check out the reviews with the games they want to be playing and make an informed decision on what to purchase. However, if you look at a broad range of review outlets, the 7900XTX is the better performing card whilst chewing lower power than the 3090ti
    3. What frame pacing issues? This hasn't been mentioned in any reviews I've read. If you're going to drop that grenade in then back it up with links to source material
    4. Linked to number one as I'd like to know where you can get a £700 3090ti with warranty comparable to buying it via this deal for example
    5. If that's a consumers requirement for a GPU product then fair enough. I gave the example that if you're interested in raster gaming only. I never said that AMD was superior in those cases you mention. Clearly if you're interested in that then pony up for a 4080 or 4090. Your choice
    6. In my personal opinion, I'm not keen on upscaling methods and frame generation techniques and prefer to run native. DLSS is superior to FSR. FSR3 will be available shortly so will be interested to see if AMD close the gap. In my opinion, just like RT, AMD will be a generation behind
    7. Again, if that's your requirement then factor it into the decision making process. For me and a lot of other consumers, it's a non consideration

It's just dumb to pick a side, AMD now makes good gpu's at good price points for gamers compared to Nvidia. I've picked up a rx 7900xt for £680 new. I could have paid the same for rtx 4070ti, Let down was 12 gbs of vram and 192-bit bus. Go with the best option that suits you at time. Nvidia are making AI-gpu's that cost them 3k to make and selling them for 30k each, They don't care about low to mid range gpu's now. There dlss and rt is awesome, but their pricing is nuts for what you really get now. If Rtx 4080 was around £800, I wouldn't have thought twice to buy it, You can get 7900xtx around £850 that gives you performance in between 4080 4090. If you're video editing, play games with rt & vr, go with Nvidia. If you play lot of games and don't care much for rt, Go with AMD. Yes, there is a lot of 2nd hand gpu's about, But sometimes it can be hit and miss when buying 2nd hand. AMD has made a lot of improvements over the last few years, Why I've gone back to their gpu's and cpu's.

    Agree completely.

I base my purchasing decisions based on my budget and requirements, not on loyalty to a company.

I'd love to upgrade my 3070ti as the 8GB VRAM is going to hurt in the coming 2 years.

So for an £800 budget and my requirements, the 7900XTX would be my personal choice. But if I could get a 4080 for around this price, I'd be going for that.
  12. miserable_bob's avatar
I also provided a link to Techspot but here are a few more 7900XTX reviews from different sources:

    guru3d.com/art…tml

    tomshardware.com/rev…p/4

The data across various reviewers all indicate the 7900XTX performs better than a 3090ti.

    I'm running a 3070ti and if I:

    1. Had a budget of £800-900
    2. Wanted a GPU for gaming
    3. Was purely focused on raster performance
    4. Wanted a GPU with a warranty

I would be looking at a 7900XTX. (edited)
    Hunterx878's avatar
    1. A 3090 ti can be had for £700, and unlike your worst case scenario, can be had with warranty (by the way, I purchased my RTX 3090 ti for £712 a month ago, with FULL warranty)
    2. Gaming - great, what games? but there's more to that that you are not considering. What about older games? What about games that utilise the much better bandwidth of the 3090 ti at 4k?
    3. Raster performance means nothing if you can't play the games you want without frame pacing issues (well documented, look it up people), hampered by the INTRINSIC issues with a chiplet design (which is not an issue on their 6000s series cards).
    4. Mute point. You can get them with warranty. Don't let warranty get in the way of buying buying a better product from a good seller
    5. What about production apps or even simple video editing? what about people who like to stream? all superior on Nvidia
    6. What about DLSS? which is far superior in image and performance
    7. What about VR? Good luck trying to get that running on any AMD gpu

You've cherry picked your sources and are minimising others. The links you have provided don't wipe the other facts out of existence. You are presenting those articles as if that is all people need to make an informed decision.

My takeaway for people wanting to make an informed decision:

Believe me, I spent a long period, trying to justify getting a Red Devil RX 7900 XTX, but after considering all the variables, AMD just isn't worth the hassle (referring to 7000 series only). Especially when you are talking about spending £800 plus on a top-end GPU! Slight wins in raster performance shouldn't come in to a decision for that card IF you have to put up with the card in other areas.

Be wary of affiliate-linked YouTubers who don't tell the entire story, or ones that conveniently miss off the pitfalls. I am not saying Nvidia is perfect, and they are overpriced, but if you can get the equivalent to AMD then you should expect to pay £100 more for an all-round better experience and peace of mind that it will work. I don't care what anyone says, there is a reason Nvidia has 90% of the market share.

I hope AMD can come out with something better next generation. Remember, neither AMD nor Nvidia are your friend, but better to go with the product that is more consistent and reliable. (edited)

Get this, and lower a few settings. I play with a 4080 on my C2, and no issues.

You just got me to bite! Will miss the raytracing performance of Nvidia but either way this will be a great upgrade over my 3080 10gb.
    chapchap's avatar
But no DLSS - that’s something I cannot stop thinking I will miss while owning a 7900.
  16. jungleboy123's avatar
does this still come with starfield or not? Might explain the heavy discount. Havent seen a xtx at this price yet.

No mention of Starfield in the advert, so I am thinking no?

I have a 3080Ti FE, but I hate how much heat it kicks out. Was thinking of selling it on and buying one of these, for anyone that has a 7900 XTX do they kick out alot of heat?
    hellachloe's avatar
They are much less efficient than nvidias 40 series.

Would this do VR ok in MSFS20? [3080FE/5800x3d user at the mo]
    jungleboy123's avatar
maybe no. VR better off with a 4090. AMD shocking with VR perf. The 4080 VRAM too small but might just cope better.

AMD did release some VR drivers to boost perf but no one has benchmarked it online. The old benchmarks show like half perf MSFS20 vs 4090.
  19. miserable_bob's avatar
So, so tempted by this but then realised the maximum GPU length that is compatible with my case is 315mm length

I have had muliple msi cards 4090's and all had pretty bad coil whine, I got a msi 4080 coming tommorow, Im willing to bet money it will have coil whine. (edited)

wont fit in my h1 my 6800 xt barely fits in, such a shame as this is a must buy for anyone looking to buy a pc, the 4090 is not worth the extra money over this at the moment. 824 is too cheap.
    GOODSTUFF's avatar
a lot of AMD GPUs are huge even some of the double fan versions the heatsinks are just ginormous compared to nvidia 70 and 60 series
  23. redmoss's avatar
Good to hear as I had been procrastinating for three days over some of the negative feedback back on this MSI card, over 70% positive reviews across amazon and newegg and an average 1 in 10 chance of getting a bad sample, but looking at other Rx 7900 xtx board partners had similar results e.g. power colour, sapphire, Asrock, Asus, with MSI averaging better on warranty support.

Anyone want a copy? How much does it sell for ‘2nd hand’
    sion22's avatar
you cant sell it directly, its not a steam code. you need to install it into your PC and log on steam account to check you have the card installed in this PC to link it
