I think Netac is OK. But Crucial X8 double the speed is £78. That is a much better deal. (edited)

Yeah, not sure why you'd buy this over a much more reputable brand

Do you know what's the length of the cable provided?

Does anyone know the full specs of this? I was thinking of getting an SK hynix p31 and putting it in an enclosure for £10 more. I know it'll be faster but as long as this has dram and has tlc it shouldn't be a deal breaker.

morning, question as i know nothing about these portable drives. My mum has very photo she has ever taken on a sd card on her phone, i got her a 1tb sd card, but couldn't get any bigger and she's nearly used that up. she insists she wants all her photos with her. i'm assuming these are pretty fast so i could transfer all the photos to one of these and she could plug it in her phone when needed to access them. if she stores it in her bag would it just corrupt being moved around alot?
    thanks

SSDs are good for carrying around. They are heavy duty, with no moving parts. Shockproof, perhaps SanDisk is better, as it has a rugged built quality. Personally, I believe such products are too expensive for what you want, a normal portable hard drive at half the price should do. But this has the small factor and resists more to shocks. The speed is great on paper, but it is not only about this. The technology you have should support such specs. I've got a high-speed SSD, but my laptop ports do not support that speed, so it transfers at a lower speed.
Word of advice since you said 1TB is not enough. Have a backup. My parents lived abroad for years. All their memories were on a portable drive, and eventually, that one gave up. So they lost all their memories from abroad, they don't even have a picture left, apart from the printed ones. Portable SSDs last longer than flash drives, sd cards, normal hard drives, etc. But there is a lifespan on them, too. I think your mother should consider virtual storage, 1TB of pictures is a lot.
