Is this a good upgrade from the iPhone 6? (Yes, this is a genuine question and this is the only phone I've had)
    Crossbow's avatar
If you've ever only used an iPhone, an Android phone could take some getting used to.
You may be delighted or may not like it at all.
It could also depend on your age, gender, expectations, how often you go into Settings to change options, etc, etc. Android also tends to suffer more random glitches & abnormalities!
Note that this is also considerably larger & heavier, visit a local phone store that stock it to compare them in person & how it feels in the hand/s...

I got this the first time around a few weeks ago and honestly as a mid range phone it's very good. Got it for my daughter and she loves it, plays Roblox etc, and I was honestly surprised at the screen and speed for the price. Bargin imo

    hey it's back
    HellriderUKDeals69's avatar
It is a £199 phone which should have been the launch price.
  4. steve.barnesMxI's avatar
    Are these phones any good?
    mgb20's avatar
I purchased one at launch. It's not as good as some reviews make out. Don't fall the hype about the Glyph lights on the back, you only see them if the phone is lying face down which is not an advisable thing to do. The screen has large bezels which reduces the screen size considerably.
  5. Parzival2's avatar
Is it worth going from a Pixel 5 to this, any help would be appreciated
    DirtyQwerty's avatar
Depends how much you need a new phone. The Nothing is a lot bigger and heavier, has better (but not massively better) performance, higher refresh display and obviously the lights on the back. The Pixel 5 still has a better camera though.

The cheapest sim is £19.99 am I doing something wrong, total is £220
    Animal5865's avatar
It'll be sim free get a 30 day sim from Lebara and don't get robbed by O2.

Got the 12GB 256GB one in black for £299
  8. JessieTheDog's avatar
Is this deal for a payg or a contract?

    Sorry, contract only!

The only thing I would say is that trying to cancel with O2 is a right Royal pita!

If you are OK with that the it's a cracking deal for this phone... imo. (edited)

just pac out the no and job done
  9. bluefish2303's avatar
OP it doesn't allow you to apply the code when the up front amount is £399 ie on PAYG (see photo below). The most you can set the pay up front amount to is £360 then apply the code and only then do you pay off the rest by choosing to end the credit agreement. It's at that point you can terminate the monthly tariff part of the Refresh deal.

Pixel 6 if you prefer the camera quality.

Before I buy the white 256gb with 12gb ram will this be unlocked? I’m planning to use my BT sim in it and sell my iPhone 12 Pro (edited)
    Wammer's avatar
    All phones now come unlocked.
  12. thewolf8u's avatar
Are these locked to 02 or can I put in any SIM?
    Crossbow's avatar
Any SIM. Mobile phone companies were banned from selling locked handsets in Dec2021 ofcom.org.uk/new…ets
  13. GlueingMaster_TeachingAss's avatar
So my opinion after using the phone for a little while now.... The cameras is the worst and most frustrating part on this phone, so slow in taking a pic and lack of light for a selfie pic is awful. If your aiming to capture a moment then this phone is not for you as the shutter speed is extremely slow. Selfies you might as well not bother in low light as the pictures remind me of my old Nokia's back in the day. Apart from this the phone is almost flawless, speakers could be louder but that could just be a bug bearer for me. Phone is beautiful looking and very smooth plus the glyph lights is a very cool feature that turns heads.

    This or A34 5G Samsung?
    Crossbow's avatar
Compare specs & photo quality, etc here gsmarena.com/com…074 - return if you'd like to discuss anything there further
  15. Husla's avatar
How's the camera like? Bette than F3?
    dkj255's avatar
Probably. It's both a newer sensor, slightly higher resolution, and crucially, has OIS, however the phone itself will be slower which may limit it's 4K recording abilities.
  16. Leonh's avatar
Meh literally not worth the hard search on a credit file.
    Wammer's avatar
Only something to worry about if you are applying for a mortgage or loan in the near future. Otherwise it's meaningless.
  17. dips18uk's avatar
Does the phone come unlocked to all networks? If we get the 30 day SIM and cancel within 30 days can I then use any SIM card?
    ibobsy's avatar
    Nowadays all phones are unlocked

Oh I think you don't have to activate but you have to cancel within 14 days (edited)
  18. robinpeter's avatar
I've gone through the process this morning (10:30)& it doesn't say sold out? It accepted the code too?? But, I haven't finished off (filling in my info)?? (edited)

This looks like a really good deal.

Can you spread the cost of the phone over a few months, or do they want the payment upfront?

    Thanks!
    Wammer's avatar
You can pay monthly for up to 36 months, but that would include the cost of airtime. All in the Get Deal link.
  20. acemum1's avatar
this or the redmi note 12 pls anyone ( the other hot deal on here at the mo)
    Crossbow's avatar
This is better overall - you can compare specs here gsmarena.com/com…063
The Redmi has a 3.5mm jack, a microSD card (uses 2nd SIM slot) & an infrared port if these are very important to you.
The Redmi Note 12 PRO hotukdeals.com/dea…162 is more comparable to this gsmarena.com/com…955 but costs £36 more
  21. KyleJohnson99's avatar
02 saying im not aloud to cancel sim i have to return phone and get a refund I've repeatedly said I've paid for the whole upfront cost so i have the right to cancel sim but the agent still says sorry you still have to return phone if you want to cancel?
    abeuk's avatar
Port the sim out to another payg sim. Vodafone one's are free to order
  22. ithinkin's avatar
Not sure I get the appeal of this deal. Cheapest pay monthly is £27 a month for the lowest gig. Yes you get £200 voucher but the phone itself is worth £300 or so. So even if you increase the upfront cost it doesn't change the pay monthly by much.
    Crossbow's avatar
The appeal of O2 Refresh & the £200 voucher is ...
    A. You get to buy the physical phone (called Device Plan) outright for £199 instead of £300 or whatever it is currently, &
    B. You can cancel the SIM contract (called Airtime Plan) completely, once the Device Plan is paid off in A. above
    • Conclusion: You get to own the phone outright at a considerable discount

    Downsides are...
    1. Your credit file takes a hit for a few months
    2. If they haven't cancelled the contract & direct debit properly, you'll get charged for the 1st month - but at least this is usually refundable when you chase them up about it
    3. They will not handle any warranty claims if they arise, you'll need to approach the manufacturer directly (edited)
  23. scrounger's avatar
I believe you can flash iOS on this... Can someone explain how ?
    E_B's avatar
    Not possible.
  24. G.Force's avatar
Has anyone managed to obtain a proof of purchase for the phone? If so, where is it? The website is poor.
    Wammer's avatar
The only proof I have is a Thank you for your Order email. There is nothing in my O2 account to show that I ever bought the phone or had airtime. Not even the bills they generated.

Note - I'm not getting notification of replies, only reactions and new comments. (edited)

CHECK OUT O2 CUSTOMER REVIEWS AND O2s star rating.

    *via Google search

I REFUSE to allow myself to be that desperate to buy a phone that I have to jump thru hoops for, cannot just buy upfront in full for without being forced to take out a air time contract for; a contract I don't need and will be cancelled immediately upon arrival of phone.

But the worst thing is just having to deal with O2 as terribly customer rated company, and also having to face complicated and long call waiting times... Only to then be faced with outsourced call centres in India whose agents will leave you drained and regretting you got into bed with O2!

Naaaa, life is just too short and my peace of mind too important to me. We all face ENOUGH stress as it it without adding more of it for a phone from O2!
    Glowingpumpkin's avatar
Agreed, I'm hoping for some sales come the release of the Nothing Phone 2.

    ithinkin's avatar
How much are you paying per month?
  29. edhjedwdwg's avatar
    oos
  30. GlueingMaster_TeachingAss's avatar
Is this the best bang for your buck currently? Also is it worth paying extra £100 for 12gb ram and 256gb memory compared to 8gb ram and 128gb memory?

After all you are the voice of reason lol
    MrSwitch's avatar
Quite possibly currently, the pixel 6a being up there as well

i wouldn't pay £100 more for the extra storage / Ram unless you really need the extra storage
  31. G.Force's avatar
What colour is best? Black with better LED visual, or white with better transparent looks? Hmmmmm
    Karling's avatar
In my opinion I would... It looks better to me
  32. Akhan17's avatar
Don't knownif I needed this or would need this but ordered hopefully if I don't want it to use it can sell it for a bit profit or breakeven on ebay

Got it today, called to cancel was put on hold and the guy seems very nice. He said he put it to disconnect tonight but I haven't recieved any email is it normal? Last time when I have to cancel o2 I recieved an email saying sorry to see you go but this time no email confirmation.
    Cammio's avatar
I called and asked to cancel the last time the deal was out, he told me had done it but they hadn't and still produced me a bill.

I followed it up and they have now raised be a credit note for my next bill
  37. Pixam's avatar
    Can't order now
  38. CookieNomnomnom's avatar
Will this affect your credit score?
    Wammer's avatar
They did a soft credit check then when I passed that, they did a hard check.

A hard check should only be a concern if you will be applying for other credit soon, such as a mortgage or loan, and your credit rating is already low.
  39. KyleJohnson99's avatar
How do you get monthly airtime payment at £0 when min you can change to is 1gb data which is £19 a month?
  40. scamster's avatar
Fantastic, thanks OP, thought I missed this deal, just copped this for my Mum

What is the best way to cancel the SIM? Thinking of doing this on the phone’s arrival.

    Thanks (edited)
