About this deal

Bit of a bargain for what it is...

Oris introduces the third watch made in partnership with the Carl Brashear Foundation and the first powered by Oris’s in-house Calibre 401, a highly resistant five-day automatic.

    Heat. Bought 10 for ebay.

A really nice watch. It does look very similar to the sixty five bi-colour though, which can be bought for £1500 ish these days and has a metal bracelet rather than a nylon strap.

Isn't the Sixty Five powered by a Sellita SW 200-1?

I'm looking at getting one of these Aquis models which retail at around £2.5k new, picking it up from H&T this week for £1200 (pre-owned but like new). Beautiful watches but they really don't seem to hold their value.52741740-yYHcZ.jpg

Few watches do hold their value. Most lose 30% as soon as you walk out the door. I'm currently daily-wearing an Oris Cal 400-2 Aquis 43.5, I got it as-new (2 months old, barely worn, balance of 10 year warranty transferred) - was also about 1/2 the RRP for that model.

I feel somewhat sorry for Oris - there were some teething troubles with the first lot of Cal 400, and I think the negatives got blown out of proportion online (although the rotor being underweight for winding the watch was a bit of a rookie error!). I also believe if you do send in a Cal 400 for warranty work they appear to just replace with the 400-2 anyway, and having a 10 year warranty is basically unheard of for automatic watches.

I assume your one with the RRP of £2500 is a Sellita movement, in which case the RRP was probably somewhat optimistic, but £1200 seems decent. I love the use of alternative date complications from Oris compared to the more common date window (edited)
