    Anyone looking for a more practical option, have a look at this. It's expired but often on sale. I paid only £21 and it's the best work/light travel backpack I had. Super well organised storage inside with side access, separate shoe compartment etc. I've actually got it ready packed today for a 2 day work trip and haven't even used the roll top extension so you could easily do a weekend trip with just the backpack.

    Agreed. Imo a backpack is significantly less useful without these pockets, especially a rolltop where you'd have to undo the main pocket every time you want to grab some water.

    I love the look of this bag. Some helpful organisation pockets inside. Downsides are no sternum strap (important for me!) and the laptop padding is very thin.

    It's 62H X 35W X 28D, so maybe as a paid bag but even then possibly too tall. Depends how it's packed I guess, for max carry on but comfortable you want this:
