Both are GOG codes.
There's several ways you could lose access to a game on one platform: sometimes games get pulled from stores (rarely but it does happen), your account could get hacked and you could end up blocked or banned through no fault of your own, the platform might move to a new launcher or bring in new DRM that doesn't work on your system any more (let's say because you don't have a TPM module or version of Windows that supports device encryption or whatever they might decide to do).
Perhaps more likely though, you might want to play the game on other platforms yourself. For example, you may want to play on SteamDeck or a Linux machine, or even an Apple device... even if you don't use one now, who knows what the future will bring, and having a choice of installers and different DRM/DRM-free options gives you the best chance of getting it working. If one launcher won't run, another might.
Increasingly we're also seeing cloud gaming services like Geforce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon Luna etc. - and different platforms do different deals and make different games available to stream, so owning the game on several platforms gives you the best chance of owning it on a platform that lets you stream it.
Oh and multiplayer. Some games/platforms only let you run one instance at a time. If you want someone else to play at the same time, that second copy will come in handy there too.
