Bad Hollywood Sequels are made on the basis that your average 'blockbuster' fan is a moron, that will rush to the cinema if something is familiar, over-blown, and loud, with lots of shooting and explosions. The quality of the original movie on which the sequels leech need not be emulated.
So Ubisoft searches out franchises, and then makes each sequel dumber, bigger, with ever more 'streamlined' gameplay. Cut'n'paste rules. Their target is the least discriminating gamer, whose brain is switched off as they stab the controller buttons.
Far Cry 6 is universally reviled- so is AC Valhalla but that sold like gang-busters. Watch Dogs 3 was utter trash. Yet each of these three franchises began with excellent games.
Personally I thought Far Cry 3 was already full of warning signs. At the time the story and cut-scenes helped save a game with a rather generic shooter open-world, but a game is not a movie and leaning into cut-scenes to compensate for weak gameplay (hello 'Avengers', hello 'Guardians of the galaxy', good-bye Square Enix) has ruined so many recent AAA games.
Ubisoft has proven that pretty graphics alone are worthless. Their next entries in each of their major franchises are set to be some of the most wretched AAA games ever published.
