I assumed that the Switch had a different connector, but having read and checked - its just a USB-C, so I can just use my exisiting car USB plug, and a USB-C cable, or am I missing something?

You are correct, it just needs usb-c with a decent wattage. This is much cheaper than buying a separate socket and cable though.

Bit of a strange one these. I got one ages ago and the issue was the lack of flexibility you get because of the moulded cable.

If everything you have is USB C then they’re ok but personally, we found it better to buy a generic USB A charger with a couple of ports on it, as the iPad, dash cam and phones all take different connectors.

Invariably you end up with more than one device needing to be charged on a trip so found that a single connector taking up our only 12v socket was more of a pain than the money we saved.

Not knocking the deal but a heads up for anyone who’s not really used their lighter socket as a charger before.

Also some cars have a second one in the back for the passengers to use devices with, I recently discovered one facing the rear seats located at the back of the centre console in our ford cmax which is very handy for journeys.

They do, but from memory not hugely fast and I don’t think they adhere to any specific charging protocols, but absolutely fine for using as a sat nav charger etc.

(and in case you hadn’t noticed it’s a fixed cable so you’re stuck with USB C)

This charger is 15W, which is an odd choice for a Switch specific product, as the Switch will only draw 10W from this.

You will probably be able to play with this adapter, but it won’t really charge unless you put it down. (edited)
