    Perfect for car thieves

Criminals could achieve the same with any hard pointed piece of metal so its not like it makes much difference. If someone wants to get in they will.

In emergency you could use the headrest to break the window. Need more space and muscles though

If your car has rolled you won't be able to get the head rests off

If you're not in a rush these are like £2 from China. Just checked my aliexpress and in 2015 I ordered 8 of these for around 90p each for friends and family.

I used to have a UK escape tool called a British passport, it doesn't open many doors as before.

2016 called, there's some campaign going on that you may be able to help with.

    Give it a rest.

Just a little heads up for those who buy one , don't push down the black button with your thumb thinking I wonder how this breaks the glass!!! Yes I was that stupid

Just watch if you have a fairly new car - some are coming with laminated glass all round.

The description “works on side windows” to me would indicate it won’t work on laminated glass. (edited)

You'll soon wish these could be un-invented when you find your window on the floor next day.

Have to wonder that this will no doubt be stored in the glove box... therefore in an emergency with aJammed seatbelt, how would I be able to reach over to the glovebox and get out the seatbelt cutter, assuming I am on my own in the car?

Also.. How exactly does a seatbelt jam? Has it ever happened to anyone in a serious crash that anyone knows of? The realease button is on the top of the recepticle, so even if the seat wedged against the receiver I think it might still eject in 99.9% of cases?

Not saying they are a waste of time.. Just curious.

Also for breaking the glass, I'm told the head rest has a pointy bit at the bottom of the metal bit which you could whack into the corner of the window if necessary (Useful to know). All a bit tricky underwater I get that... but so would finding this item in the dark, in the glove box underwater.

Judging from the listing images you are supposed to store it somewhere readily available within reach. And as for the seatbelt, its generally an issue if your car ends up upside down and the full weight of your body is on the mechanism making it very hard to push the release button.

I've had one of these for many years together with escape hammers on the passenger and driver'sides of the car.
In an emergency I can see this being able to pop a side/rear window far more effectively than using a hammer.
Not too sure about the seatbelt cutter as the tool is pretty small so maybe fiddly to hold in the cutting position.
When pushed against a solid object the metal pointed stud comes out like a bullet with some real force behind it.
When you need to use it you just pull it and it snaps away from the keyring mount. (edited)

Does it come with one that's starts your car when you're keys aren't working?

Howis this better than an emergency hammer, the sort with a point and a concealed blade? Is it the size, so it's easier to keep to hand?

When pushed against the glass a pointed metal slug snaps forward and shatters the window.. Easier than having to swing with a hammer in my opinion (especially if the cabin is full of water) as I have both. (edited)
