    Never used these type of devices for fear of damage to the cars electrics and battery, are there dangers?

    Make sure you have a fire extinguisher also in your vehicle.

    TBH you're better off getting a dedicated 12V adaptor for your laptop as it reduces the conversion losses going from 12v>240v>19v, or if you can charge from USB-C, a decently-powered cigarette lighter charger thing.
