I was looking at getting the Ring Doorbell Pro 2 and noticed a great price on the Amazon Warehouse version. Mine came today and despite being Used, Good condition, it’s basically mint apart from the box being opened. Looks like only a few are available. There are also Used, Acceptable available for £70.69 if you want to take the risk.

Mine arrived brand new but I'm not sure where to house the transformer.
Also, I understand my existing chime bell cannot be used with it hence I'll need to buy ring chime separately.
Any tips for the included adapter and chime?
Is the bell still useful without subscription?

You don't need a transformer if you're using the plug in ac/dc adapter. The 2 wires just screw directly into the back of the doorbell.

If you have Alexa, use that as your chime.

I personally wouldn't use the doorbell without a subscription as you can't review footage.

It's on the side of the Doorbell itself, underneath the silver cover

I'm guessing this has expired as I can't see it under £219 now

Still available (somehow). You just need to select ‘Plug-in’ variant and then it’ll show under Certified and Refurbished

What’s the difference with these pro2?  What advantage does it give to the pro or other models?
    LordKelly's avatar
Look at the bottom and it gives you the list

It's mainly better quality, colour night time and better vertical

    Gone right?

Just got one. It said "minor cosmetic imperfection" which I assume isn't visible.

Is that what it said for everyone else?

Will give it a look before using it in case (edited)

Am I right in saying that the difference between the hardwired and plug-in options is that one comes with the plug-in adapter?

I have been having a lot of issues with Amazon Warehouse recently. Lots of faulty items and/or arriving in terrible condition. I've still gone for this one, so will hope for the best.

Do these use battery or wire
    mikax7x's avatar
    Pro is wired

I bought a week ago during prime day and it came sealed, brand new! I wanted to replace a ring wired version but this one came with a transformer. I have not researched yet if its an easy replacement with the ring wired using the existing wiring with plug in adaptor or not, or I must use the transformer.
    vikasbhasin's avatar
Same, I wasn't expecting a transformer. Thought it'll just replace the existing bell
  19. vikasbhasin's avatar
Do you need to take a subscription for it to be of any use? If so, mine is going back
  20. iAmir's avatar
Great price, lowest it's been, albeit new, according to camelcamelcamel is £149.99.
Upgrading my hardwired video doorbell gen 2 because the lag to record means I end up having recordings of people walking away from the door a lot of the time.
Looks like the old one will sell around £50 on eBay so not a bad price for an upgrade.

Was debating whether the battery powered gen 2 was actually better to keep as it would mean I have backup power in case the electricity went down but just realised the WiFi would go down too so can't really be used as a backup! (edited)

mine arrived today . looks brand new...

Took a gamble and ordered ‘acceptable’ for £70. It arrived looking brand new, complete with a sealed box. I guess it’s refurbished so assuming it works fine then I’m super pleased!

    Edit: it works perfectly (edited)

I ordered both the £70 and £82 one to compare. They've come in exactly the same condition. Both boxes are factory sealed.

Highly recommend getting a used one from Amazon. Mine had minor cosmetic damage and it came looking brand new, sealed and everything in the box. It had a slight scratch around the back screw that you can’t see and that’s it. Not bad for half the price!
  25. Hassann's avatar
I've just realised, there's no plug-in adapter included. Did everyone get theirs?
    vikasbhasin's avatar
Don't think these come with plug in adapter. They have DIN transformer instead
  26. vikasbhasin's avatar
Looks like Amazon has loads of these unsold for which they are selling them as warehouse deals

These doorbells makers are moving towards a business model like printers.
Keep the hardware cheap, make money from subscriptions
Just like printer makers make money from consumables ...
  28. shahdhah's avatar
Thought i ordered a plug in but ended up receiving the wired version (with a transformer). I noticed that if you purchase via a mobile, it auto switches from Plug in to Wired when you select to add to your basket. On laptop / computer, Plug in is sold out. Just a heads up. (edited)

    Installed mine, perfect condition

My thoughts vs the ring gen 2 this has upgraded -
    - Pre roll is a game changer so no longer just getting the back of delivery drivers
    - HDR works well, image isn't as washed out in sunlight and nice to see the clouds moving over time
    - Wide vertical lense is useful although the image is a square on my alexa echo show which is slightly annoying
    - 30 second snapshot vs 5 minutes is great so you miss less
    - Bird's eye view is rubbish because the satellite maps used are no good but not really a feature I needed.

Also look out for e-mails after you register the device for a free faceplate!
    vikasbhasin's avatar
Pre-roll implies that just like alexa is listening 24x7, ring is also recording 24x7

I've noticed that the bell gets quite warm, especially at the top. Is this normal?
Wonder if mine is draining too much power. (edited)

Wow! Got the “acceptable” one yesterday for £70 and it arrives factory sealed and brand new. No Warehouse sticker to be seen. Great deal!
    FragileBoris's avatar
Ive ordered the same, fingers crossed.
