Mine goes through 1960's brick work fine with a half decent bit. Doesn't touch concrete mind

What do people use an impact driver for? Surely it's just for nuts and bolts on cars?

Driving in screws, particularly long ones. The torque on it means it doesn't break your wrist. You're referring to an impact wrench for bolts and nuts.

Thank you, almost bought the Erbauer brushless combi drill+driver from B&Q for 115£ but I don't think I need both tools and brushless for some dyi around the house.

I will say that having both a drill and an impact driver can be a massive benefit, if for no other reason than you're not having to swap bits as often. For the small amount extra I would probably get the twin pack, but it's all down to your needs.

Seems completely reasonable for the price. Batteries are a tad small, but having done a DIY flat renovation cycling between two 1.5Ah batteries myself I think this would be fine.
And then you're in the Ryobi system which has a hell of a lot of tools to choose from

I've had this drill for two years and I can't fault it. The only issue I've had is the speed switch at the top has become stiff. For some reason it's binding against the body. Also have the impact driver which is fantastic.

Silly question incoming but is this fine to use with any brand bits and screwdriver bits?
I have loads of bosch bits and screwdriver bits

    Yes

So very tempting for the money. I was holding out for a HP Brushless model though (to replace my old Bosch cordless drill). I only need for occasional around the house DIY and a few holes in brick for rawl plugs is the most it will likely need to do (maybe a steel lintel for a blind in a window recess etc), but I just don't want to be underwhelmed. I don't want to replace one tool with another not much better.

    Thoughts? (edited)

    Thanks for this

In case it helps anyone else, the 1.5Ah batteries that come with this don't have power level check indicators. I didn't notice from the pictures but only got as far as unpacking the first battery when I realised. Mines being returned, I was taking a chance on the drill on the basis the charger and batteries were worth the spend, but these are too basic for my liking. (edited)
