Really good bit of kit. Couple of things to help: use filtered/bottled water, not tap water. Only put enough beans in the hopper for the coffee you’re making, I.e. single dose

Don’t only put a single dose of coffee in the hopper! You’ll get “popcorning” where the beans pop up and down in the grinder and as a result you’ll end up with a poor grind

Excellent coffee machine, the best I’ve used so far and had mine for years.
Handy tip to descale regularly every 3-4 weeks (had to get mine repaired because of this)

I have the sage duo which has a replaceable water filter bit in the water tank. Does yours have the same and you descale?

2 years of daily coffee. Amazing machine. Try to use fresh coffee beans.

Upgraded my barista express for a touch which was well worth the upgrade, but the express is still an excellent machine.

What does the touch do that this can’t?

Gutted my local Costco doesn't have the silver Express Impress for £480 like the other stores, just keeping my fingers crossed they come back

Same here. So this isn’t as good as the Impress?

For anyone considering this, try and get the impress (silver) from Costco. Leicester had a bunch yesterday. No brainier. None of the dosing and tamping faff.

Great machine, I look forward to my coffee every morning.

    Tips:

Use fresh beans (preferably roasted within 2 weeks)
    Get a WDT tool
Weigh your dose (18g of beans is the sweet spot for me)
    30 second extraction time
    Get a sage knock box
    Invest in a bottomless portafilter

Fun tips. Do you recommend a particular bottomless portafilter? First time I've heard of that. I grind into a dosing cup as always got too much waste.
