Value will depend on how heavily these have been used. If they've been thrashed Chia mining they could be on their last legs.

would rather pay the £47 more for a new one tbh.

Great for someone who wants fast retrieval of static data like a film, game or music collection. Limited life writes is probably not a major issue.

Well it's used, so it might be depending on how 'used' it is.
I've sold SSD's to CeX with as low as 45% health and they buy them anyway.

I'd never buy an SSD from them.

    A used DRAM-less QLC drive?
From CeX, who do not care how low the health is of a drive is when they buy them (I would know, I've sold plenty to them that were thrashed to hell).

Sorry, I think I'll pass. (edited)

    This has DRAM though, right?
But yeah, the price would have to be lower for me to take a punt on this.

    Agreed!

    Especially a 'used' item.

Nice capacity but it's probably nearing end of life and won't last long, also around 10 times slower than current M2 drives. Cold.

New, a basic SSD should be valued at 100 quid per 4TB. In other words 200 for 8. It doesn't matter what the larger capacities are currently selling for- this is all basic flash is currently worth. And prices of bigger capacities are rapidly normalising with prices of smaller capacities.

Second hand, a basic item is worth a fraction of its new price.

The issue is the limited choices for 8TB drives.
With so little competition they feel they can charge whetever they like for them, regardless of what the true value is.

"You want a bigger drive that no one else is selling? Well we'll make you pay far too much for it"

I just can't see many brands wanting to invest in 8TB SATA drives when they are putting most of it into NVMe.

Someone (maybe you?) did mention a newer SATA revision in the works? Maybe that will give more interest into SATA drives again.

    P.S.
I think he has me blocked? lol
I've actually agreed with/responded to a lot of his comments lately but he hasn't responded at all (we had a little tiff a while back).
Can someone ask him to un-block me? (edited)
