Details

The Galaxy Book2 is one seriously impressive laptop. The aluminium casing feels great, and USB-C charging means there's no bulking charger to carry around either.

Inside, 8GB of RAM ensures multitasking between programmes is a cinch, and on the 15.6" display, films will look just as bright and bold as they do on the big screen.

Keep in contact

Thanks to the onboard camera, this device, once connected to Wi-Fi, will let you take part in video chats or virtual meetings, enabling the fun of the office to come to you.

Intel Core i5 processor
With the Intel Core i5 processor in this laptop, you'll easily handle day-to-day tasks like word processing, image editing, and web browsing.

The 10-core, 12-thread design lets you work across lots of tabs and programs, and you'll be able to enjoy some light gaming too, so expect quick load times and increased productivity without a drop in performance.

What is RAM?
RAM (Random Access Memory) is different to the permanent storage provided by hard disk drives (HDD), solid-state drives (SSD) or memory cards in your equipment. RAM is used by your device to temporarily store data to carry out everyday operations. The more RAM your machine has, the faster you can expect it to open and run programs.

A solid performer
Featuring 8GB of RAM, this computer has enough power for casual tasks like web browsing and word processing as well as more demanding jobs like complex spreadsheets and image manipulation. You'll be able to run a healthy number of windows at once without any obvious lag or slowdown.

Super-fast loading with lots of storage
The 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD) gives you the capacity to store documents and media, while ensuring speedy and dependable access to your files and programs. It'll boot up in a flash, and there'll be enough space for photos, videos, music, and more.

Intel Iris Xe Graphics
Intel’s Iris Xe graphics processing unit (GPU) will enable you to enjoy a number of classic older games, along with some casual (web-based) gaming. You may be able to run more modern titles with reduced effects and frame rates.

Great entertainment
The Full HD display means all your favourite films and games will look just as incredible as they do on TV, with the built-in sound system providing crisp, clear audio to accompany whatever's on-screen.

Connecting your other devices
Connect to TVs or external displays with the HDMI output. Listen to music using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Connect to high-speed peripherals with the USB ports, and send data wirelessly between devices using Bluetooth.

Correct, the OP should amend the description.

    Says no backlit keyboard 🤷

    Review:
"Within 8 weeks of purchase the screen cracked on opening the laptop. We take great care of IT equipment and never had any problems previously with any laptops. John Lewis would not repair the screen under warranty, would have required to have purchased additional warranty. They did not accept our account of damage and spoke of wear and tear/ accidental damage. However when laptop was left in store the person commented that laptop was in excellent condition. Laptop had never been outside our home as we are retired. The laptop is obviously not robust and we would be concerned about transporting it, as we have done with previous laptops. We mentioned the evidence of a pattern of broken screens with this laptop but were told reviews are irrelevant. "

Might be worth having a look around to find the "evidence of a pattern of broken screens" (edited)

Ive only read your top sentence and it's only the Pro book version that has backlit keyboard. I hadnt noticed the PRO bit missing in the title as this otherwise is what im after.

My sister got this Samsung laptop

    johnlewis.com/sam…962

When it was on Hotukdeals for £400. Cracking deal and great laptop. Backlight is no deal breaker for me. Interested to hear people's reviews on this as Samsung laptops are great. The only disadvantage I found was the laptop build felt cheap (edited)

I had that one before, it looks nice but has quite a large footprint but still Samsung insist on 8GB soldered RAM when most laptops of this size would have slots. Build quality is not great, the palmrest is plastic and cheaply painted and touchpad is large but imprecise. Earlier Samsung laptops were not amazing well built but they seem to have fixed that on the Book 2/3 range with 12th and 13th gen and they are much stiffer and better quality with nicer displays - too many of them have 8GB RAM despite being 'Pro' and costing a fortune. Though I feel they (Samsung) are overpriced for what they are - premium HP, Dell or Lenovo systems offer more hardware for less money with better support (as they ship more units), I got rid of my Samsungs (they have good resell) and gone to HP's high end systems.

I think this newer Book2 is all metal (EDIT - it's not, just checked, same chassis as the Book1) which fixes the cheap plastic of the Book (1), not sure though, maybe someone can confirm? The bit which annoyed me is the 8GB fixed RAM in a 15.6" chassis which has plenty of space for SO-DIMM slots, it's such a useless way to prevent future upgrades - but fairly typical of Samsung in their anti-consumer quest (look at the phones and how there is now zero innovation while they removed the 3.5mm socket and memory card slot, things they mocked Apple for a few years ago).

Just read here it's the same chassis as the Book (1):
Samsung Galaxy Book2 15 review - multimedia laptop with Arc A350M fails to impress - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

I would not recommend this system: chassis is very cheap feeling (about on par with an ASUS Vivobook) and 8GB soldered RAM is a joke at £500. (edited)

'Galaxy Book2 offers a wide 15-inch display with plenty of productivity-boosting space. Neatly framed in a sleek full aluminium body, it delivers style and durability.'

Can confirm it's all metal (except keys, trackpad and bezel) as I have the i3 version and it's well built, pretty sturdy with no appreciable flex. The version in the review is not the same as this and not from the UK. It's also possible they may have an imperfect review sample. Agree with you about the RAM limitation. On the plus side you can add an additional M.2 SSD without interfering with the one in situ. (edited)

I have the i3 version (identical in specification apart from the processor) purchased from Currys last Christmas for £299. It's a solidly built aluminium laptop and well worth that price perhaps £40 to £50 more tops. Likewise this one would be a reasonable deal if it was a hundred pounds or so less.

I would recommend getting the pro over this. Cex usually have them for cheap and are in mint condition. I bought 2 from there and they were near enough brand new.

No back-lit keyboard, I owned this and later upgraded to the Pro2 15.6 i5 also, then non Pro is still an outstanding tablet, back-lit keyboard as much as I whinged it didn't have it I switched it off on the Pro2

Wow I didn't know that samsung is doing galaxy laptops

Biggest gain is if you have other Samsung devices like mobile, tablet, the Microsoft Windows 11 and Samsung ecosystem is now good enough for me to ditch my Samsung tablet.

Just need Windows 11 to finally push more Playstore apps, but you get nearly all the Samsung apps.

I've had this for about 8 months. It's a great lightweight laptop only let down by poor battery life. But it's probably not much worse than many other lightweight options.
