Stunning Design
Tough and elegant, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is built to last with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protecting the front and back alongside a sleek Armour Aluminium frame in a choice of four gorgeous shades: Green, Phantom Black, Cream or Lavender. All things considered, for a phone that has just been released and flagship - it's a very good deal.

I think some people on HUKD get confused on the difference between what is a 'deal' vs 'good value'. They are mutually exclusive events.

Agreed. Managed to get it down to £760ish plus TCB. Can't complain.

I've had the S22 ultra for a few months now and I can't seem to understand the hype around the phone, nor justify the extra £500 I paid compared to other phones like mi12t pro, oneplus 10, etc., the camera is nice though.

When will they ditch curved edge screens? It is a complete waste of valuable screen space, they make it 10x harder to reach important things often lost in the convex shaped vertices of the phone (if you can even make out what the pixels are trying to show), they make the overall cost of the screen far more expensive to manufacture and astronomically more expensive to repair or replace (which is why I presume they still do it). We really do need to stop entertaining it and buying these models. We need to put a stop to this nonsense!

Offer looked tempting -- until I saw that it has a pathetic 8GB RAM. It's an absolute ripoff at this price, sorry.

Phone should've launched with 12GB RAM minimum and at least 16GB on the higher end models.

EDIT: just watched a few reviews -- to add insult to injury, not only did they not upgrade the display, they had the nerve to downgrade the selfie camera to a 12MP sensor. Typical Scamsung -- take away or downgrade a new feature every year. Meanwhile, the much cheaper Chinese phones from OnePlus and Xiaomi will get the upgraded LTPO3 and LTPO4 displays for a fraction of the cost. Then Samsung wonders why they keep losing marketshare to cheaper Chinese brands every year. (edited)

12MP front camera isn't necessarily a downgrade from 40MP on the S22. More pixels doesn't necessarily mean better. In fact more pixels often a reduction in picture quality.

Not a bad price. I was put off with the rumours that the price was going up by £100. So I got a mint condition refurb fold 4, that arrived earlier today. After playing with it for past few hours. I don't think I can go back to a traditional phone now.

But I would've traded up for a s23u as my other option as the price seems great in the op (edited)
    mkara's avatar

And that's the reason why I didn't want to step in to the world of the Fold. Ever since I've been using a note can't go back to a penless phone (yes I actually use it) going to the Fold would make it even more difficult. Its a good thing there's no storage place for the pen, or that would've tipped the scale to buy it... Lol

Now that the entire s23 flagships come with the new soc that everyone has wanted for so long. Trying to compare with previous models that had a far less superior chip is futile

I got offered £620 plus double storage and exclusive colour if I traded in my S22 Ultra via Samsung.
I just can't find a good enough excuse to trade in, mainly because I'm not that bothered with a 200mp bump in the camera. I'm more than happy with my S22 Ultra tbh.

So can anyone clarify. Is the s23 ultra with double memory offer to 512gb. Is it the same 8gb ram as the 256gb model or is it they are giving you the 512gb model with 12gb ram. Doesn't say anything about it anywhere only memoet doubled to 512gb. If it's the 12gb model then I'm quite tempted. But I'm not Intrested in the 8gb Ram version

    Its 512gb with 12gb, they aren't producing a 512gb s23 ultra with 8gb ram

Very tempting phone. Very feature packed and has incredible specs.

But, as with all Samsung high end phones, the biggest worry is the lags and stutters that kick in after a few months. This one finally has a Snapdragon chipset, but even those variants suffer after a few months on Samsung devices.

I've had my OnePlus phone for 2 years and it's still smooth on the whole. That's why I worry about coughing up a lot on a phone that could be annoying after only a couple of months.
    TechFiend's avatar

I've never had the lags and stutters you've mentioned.

Are you thinking of the Samsung devices of old? Like pre-S6?

I got the double stoage with partner offer for 1124. Same as this basically. But this comes with minutes and data which the sim free price doesnt account for. Even at £15 a monthfor 200G. Thats would be an additonal 320? Good deal. Unless doing the maths wrong.

I used to be in the upgrade program. I'm getting plenty of invitations to join again for the 23.
I've got the note 20 ultra and I opted to buy it rather than upgrade again.
The 23 really doesn't offer any more than what I've got. Samsung reached the DPI limit years ago so any more DPI are invisible to the human eye.
And the 20 ultra has a memory card slot. That's another reason not to get another phone.

If you can find a brand new S22U (i.e. 12 months on) for 500 quid I'll bite your hand off!

If you're talking used prices then that's just how tech depreciation works, nothing to see here, move on etc
