I've always wondered why microwaves, despite being around for decades, hardly ever go below 60 pounds, is there something in the manafacturing that means they are impervious to that economic phenomen?
    vulcanproject's avatar
I imagine it's that all microwaves are all extremely similar, it's not like you can remove parts to cut their cost significantly. They're all only really the bare essentials. There is no brushless model or high speed model or revolutionary design or peripherals and add ons you can play up to sell to the consumer, that this is worth a big premium.

Then there is the shipping, you can't shrink their size and you'll be essentially paying by volume since they aren't very heavy. The same number of boxed microwaves fit in a container as the number that did 20 years ago.

It's like most white goods. It does this job in the same way as it always did in the same form factor and built in the cheapest possible way abroad. You hit the bottom bar and that's mostly it.

Can you see through the front door?

You can’t unfortunately. But for the price don’t think you’ll find as good

I had a Samsung. Bought it because of the ceramic inside. It did not get a whole lot of use and the magnetron died within 2 years. Not sure I would trust another one
    Danrw's avatar
Unlucky man, got the same one. 7 years and still going

This is a good price. It's worth highlighting that it's got a bigger capacity than a microwave in the £60 price point. That 23L means things like bags of popcorn actually spin round whilst cooking and don't get stuck.

I bought the MS23K3513AW in white last november for £120 from argos so it`s a good price.
It doesn`t feel like 800w however everything takes longer like over a minute more for a frozen meal compared to the 900w it replaced. I ended uo rebuying the 900w version recently and am pleased with it. It does cook the food well though.

Our old Samsung stopped working about 2 weeks ago, I wouldn’t min as it was about 2 years old but we hardly used it, customer support was useless so started to look for an alternative  & found this retro one on EBay but smaller at 20l but for what we use its excellent.

Only 20L though, I like those retro looking ones but wish they were bigger.

Just got mine delivered. Quick delivery as I ordered on Saturday night and they sent via DPD this morning. Seems great, almost the same footprint as my old 20L Delonghi. Yes the door glass is so tinted it is almost impossible to clearly see inside, but not a huge deal for me.

Thumbs up for the deodorising feature which can optionally vent the inside of the microwave to clear odours. Also the beeper silencing feature when you press Down+Eco.

    Edit: Removed manual link.

Edit: So far, I find it cooks faster than my previous, also 800w microwave. (edited)

Added the manual to the OP as well, a few days ago!

I have had this microwave for about 18 months. The build quality is fairly good, it looks nice and has a ceramic interior which is easy to clean.

But as others have mentioned you can barely see through the glass (might be a dealbreaker for some), it is a bit of a fingerprint magnet and the time to cook food definitely seems slower compared to other microwaves of the same wattage that I have owned in the past. I always have to add a minute or two on top of the recommended heating times for most purposes. Good price (I paid nearly £90 for mine if I remember correctly) but I wouldn't personally go for this again if I had the choice.

Hmmmm so I just bought the 28L one that was on offer last month

After 30 days of using it it's starting to exhibit this weird resonant hum and Samsung support are pretty useless...

Bought this exact one for my Daughter 3 years ago, thought it was decent value then at £90, at this price it's great!
A little on the noisy side, other than that no issues at all in the last 3 years. (edited)

I have a Samsung with a rotary knob to set the power (good) and a rotary knob to set the time (bad).
It's lasted for years, but the rotary knob for setting the time doesn't work quite right, so it needs an awful lot of twiddling to set the time.

I would replace it with this, except I don't see a simple power control.
    BlueCreek's avatar
I have this microwave, you just press the microwave button and the down arrow to adjust the power.

    Good price. Microwaves so expensive
  17. hotdealsareus123's avatar
A good price paid £80 something a year or so ago. Ok for the price. The door is very plasticky, you can't see through it, it scratches far to easily
    BlueCreek's avatar
Yeah got mine a couple years ago, if it was meant to have a light inside mines gone out, and the door doesn’t look great, can’t imagine this lasting long.

My current microwave is a big obelisk and I’d like something smaller, it is W52xH32xL45cm, from reviews this looks smaller but I couldn’t see the dimensions, does anyone have some insights ?

Mine came today. One of the pins on the plug is bent so I can't use it 🤦‍♂️
    louiselouise's avatar
Put a new plug on (though, most people don't have a spare plug) and I'd let the ebay seller know, they'll probably offer a partial refund.

I had a washing machine delivered with bent pins (albeit, Amazon Warehouse!) and my first class as a 1st Year at secondary saved the day. Though, not sure younger people know how to change plugs (?).

I avoided buying a microwave for a long as I did not want to pay much and now I ordered this one as I don't think I can find a better deal, heat added. Thanks for the heads up

  27. Master_S_P's avatar
Noticed it to be a bit slower than my old microwave, are there any settings to change this?
  28. jensbonde's avatar
    Bought it in July...

First unit returned as it was bulked (in transport?)
Second unit to be returned as the control panel is deattaching itself from the micro, so lights (and waves) are exposed outside...

Build quality is not too promising.. but at least customer support is good
