Have to be honest looking to see if this is any good, from people who have previously bought it. It seems around the £50 mark elsewhere and I'm looking for a meat slicer that will mainly slice my home cured bacon from chunks of about 1kg pork belly.

3612365.jpg
I have always sliced them with a very large carving knife by hand, but now I'm making extra for friends and family and it is a bit tiring to slice by hand for these sort of quantities, so looking for something that will make it easier. I know at this price point it isn't going to be 5 star machine, but looking for something that will hold the meat and cut it without the meat sliding all over the place and leaving tails at the end.

Features
Electric Multi-Purpose Slicer
Great for cutting bread, cooked meat, cheese and vegetables
Sturdy metal design
Safety switch for pulse and continuous operation
Precise, removable serrated blade made from stainless steel*
Adjustable cutting width settings up to 20mm – can even cut wafer-thin slices
Slanted base
Suction cups for stability
With removable sliding food carriage with thumb protection, waste holder and collection tray
Power: 120W

For most this will be another gadget to stick at the back of the kitchen cupboard. It is a good price though and deserves some heat.

I've got a slicer... its a great tool. I find that it works best to slice roast meats for sandwiches. The meat needs to be chilled firm before you slice. They are a pain to clean, and will languish unused for months at a time though. I tend to cook a few joints (pork loin works well) chill them, slice them, lay them flat in ziplock bags and chuck them in the freezer. There is no way I can get similar results with a knife. It ok having thick slices hot for Sunday lunch, pretty miserable in a sandwich.

Probably won't buy another if mine died.

I have not used this model but I have used other cheap domestic slicers. They are ok for thick stuff like bacon but useless for proper thin slicing for example Serrano ham or bressola. They are also a bit of a pain to clean.

To be honest OP I would buy it and see if it's good enough for you, for bacon it would probably be fine. Make sure your meat is very cold, this really helps!

I like really thin cured meats so I just went and got myself a commercial meat slicer 10 years ago. It's massive and weighs a ton but I can slice my homemade bressola paper-thin.

Unfortunately I no longer have any room left in the kitchen cupboard for any more unused gadgets. (edited)

    Could this handle raw chicken?

Won't work with raw meat as they "slosh" around too much, only way to do it, is to freeze the meat first then thaw it out very slowly like wrapping it in a towel inside the fridge overnight, so you slice it with soft icicles in the meat.
This is how your local Chinese takeaway cut their shredded beef or chicken.

Pleased with mine, used it for the first time today and cut 3kg of cured pork belly into bacon slices, hardly any tails whilst slicing all nice and uniform.

Found it easier with meat the size of pork belly to use it without the sliding attachments and push it along by hand. Only niggle was there is a groove along the bottom and some scraps of meat whilst cutting got stuck in there and quite fiddly to get them out once finished. Overall for £39 not too bad though. Don’t know any household in Germany in my past who didn’t had a so called Brotschneidemaschine . We used it mostly to slice bread and in my case lots of salami
They are good if you use them but would stay away if you get your bread or meat sliced already. (edited)

    Kitchen cupboard...?
I gave that up a long time ago.
struggling to find space in a double garage and three garden sheds.
Funnily enough told the wife this morning I may be on a TV show soon!

I haven’t tried this one, although I may get one as I’ve got carpal tunnel in my right hand and cook 3 joints for Christmas dinner. I bought the Argos one last year, absolutely awful returned it before Christmas Day

Yes, even for the OP's bacon, serious chilling to stiffen it will greatly assist the neatness of slicing.
I really think you'd need something much more massive (strong/stiff/stable/etc) for the dried ham they use to illustrate the product. The serrated blade also won't do justice to Parma or Serrano...
Mine came from Lidl's about 10 years ago. It gets used occasionally - but not really enough!
