I'm just playing with my new Strong 4G LTE Mini Wireless Router - WiFi 4 - N300 - as mentioned here. Works a treat and less than 18 quidlets. It's a <insert rude word of the day here> to get the SIM in its slot. Is the only bad thing about it so far that I have found.

I'm using it indoors, with metre thick solid stone walls and at the bottom of a National Park valley - and its green signal bars are half full. Our phones don't pick up a single bar.

I was planning to fit an outdoor aerial, but its speeds are good enough as is for what we will use it for. YMMV

I've got another couple of SIMs that I was planning to try - but it took so long getting the first one in.... It's got a "sloping channel", card-wide, leading to the socket. The secret is to ignore that and use a much more steeply angled approach..

How does it improve gaming & latency/ping if using a sim card?

That's a lot of money for a 4G router, perhaps you want to look at 5G routers if you're going to spend that much.

Why not just get a used Huawei 4G router. I have one as a backup.

You have to go with one that has coverage where you are. I am on Vodafone unlimited with a high speed ZTE router on 4G and can get up to 90Mbps in good coverage. No 5G in the area. A lesser 4G router (D-Link DWR 920) can only manage about 10-20Mbps in the same position.
