Make sure you seal MDF with water based sealer then give them a paint with a coat of solvent based paint like BIN and they should last. But they will sag eventually as it's 6mm MDF so try to even out contents on shelf

You think it will be ok in the loft without sealing the boards?

I bought these last year for my garage. The shelves have all started to sag. I suspect it was because of the damp winter but worth bearing in mind...

I had the same issue, I braced the middle of them with some old decking planks I had and this cured it. Cut it to size, slide into place and a couple of self tappers front and back and it firms them right up. I have 5l containers of oil and screenwash on mine so they started to sag even before the damp set in.

I keep seeing these posted and getting a lot of heat, yet the comments often talk about the shelves sagging or going mouldy

Its an MDF, without sealing it, in a damp or humid place they'll always sag, especially since its a 6mm board if not thinner. I learned the hard way and had to replace boards later.

Just had my order cancelled and refunded - did they really just want my data? Or just bad stock update problems?

I ordered the bigger version and it arrived early. Must be stock issues

The shelves on these are weak and will sag but they're garage shelves so who really cares. Turn them over each year. Otherwise go out and buy a 12mm sheet of osb and cut that.

Agreed, just buy some sheets of thick ply and cut it to size if needed in future. There are no complaints about the steel frame so I'm tempted to buy 8-10 of these for our storage.

Agree with others - shelves do sag, but as mentioned by just turn them over and it will take some time to get to flat and then sag again.
I've been looking for shelving with proper boards, but those seems to be very expensive.
