Sonos Playbar Brand new Premium Soundbar - Multiroom - WiFi

Released in 2013 for £800.

Brand new. £100 off. Now only £299.

I got this a few years back for £600 and it’s a banger. Keep getting offers to upgrade, but the sound is absolutely amazing for 10 year old tech.

Had this for 7 years, amazing bar, no Dolby Atmos but still incredible when paired with the play ones etc. Don't bother at this price, you can get them for about £100 used on eBay from the average seller this is a bit steep

Got one of these about a month ago, absolutely fantastic, they are £250 on the Sonos web site. 100 days return if not happy. Says refurb but the one I got was brand new in a sealed box, full warranty as well.

Consider the Playbase instead for 120 from CEX. Picked one up and it's amazing. Older and no Atmos but sound rivals the current gen soundbars easily. (edited)

Does the playbase work with S2?

Trouble for me is the design looks 10 years old, too dated and wouldn’t fit well with my new Samsung frame. Am however tempted by the Beam refurbs they’re selling cheap

Beam only really good if you get the sub as well

How does this compair to my ASB - 2. I'm thinking of changing it for something different.

Look into the Sonos Playbase instead. 120 from CEX. On release it was £700. Bargain.

Sold mine when the Arc came out.
Fantastic sound quality but the design looks aged now.

Also not entirely sure how many TVs have optical these days and like others have said doesn't support all the sound codecs so may require tinkering with your setup.

Personally in 2023 I'm sure you can get something "better" for the money.

Paid £400 back in 2014 for this and as far as I'm aware it hasn't seen any revisions - £299 seems like alot for such and old bit of kit design wise.

No hdmi and optical only is the main drawback

I brought this last year for £160, it’s far superior to my beam. Sounds awesome and still better than a lot of newer sound bars you hear made in 2023.

Had every sonos soundbar, beam, base arc and this, yes the bar looks a bit dated but bang for your buck it completely mullers any other sonos soundbar. Yes i currently have the arc but no better than this and hardly any atmos content

Same as you owned them all, personally found playbase better when no sub involved, agreed this is the best if as part of complete setup. Do think 300 quid is steep given its age

Great bit of kit but is very old now

    Cold tech

Actually preferred the warmer sound of the Playbar to the newer Arc
