sorted byThe mini is a sealed sub, so a bit tighter for music. The Gen 3 is a ported sub, and a good one at that, so good that it’s solid for music as well still, despite a sealed sub generally being better suited for music. Bass isn’t just bass, each sub has a different sound to it’s bass, and a different reproduction.
All things being equal, regardless of room size the sub Gen 3 is a superior product. If you just listen to music and have no sub, and budget is a concern then the mini is a sensational product. But if you’re stuck between which one to get, budget is no issue and you truly want a home cinema then it’s no contest, the 3 is better. If you bought the mini after debating it, you’ll always wonder about the Gen 3. (edited)
I have Sonos for that reason. But I agree the PB1000 is a better choice for sheer sound

If you’re willing to drop the money for the era 300s as surrounds, you shouldn’t really be considering the mini and should be seeking the full sub. (edited)
