Bought a cheap Chinese CarPlay unit and it was great besides having a dim screen but recently has started doing random reboots. But this costs 10 times more. Tough choices!

Might not be possible, but if you can.... Try and add a passive heatsink on the CPU. Often find the cheap boxes have no cooling on the CPU, resulting in freezes&reboots

How difficult would it be to fit this into a 2012 Corsa? Presumably I’d have to buy a fitting kit alongside this? Do Halfords offer an installation service?

Post a photo of your center dashboard. That is the bit in the middle in front of your gear stick. I will tell you in 60 seconds

Had this installed a while ago and cant fault the sound, looks or user interface. My only criticism is the screen is almost unusable in bright daylight.

I had it also and agree, the screen is very difficult to see in bright daylight. Apart from that it's been really good, Android Auto is brilliant.

Is this a joke? £280 for a 800x480 resistive touchscreen?

    Resistive screen LOL

One thing I don’t see is where does the usb or aux plug into this? I see in videos it’s on the back of the unit but that doesn’t seem very useful if your car isn’t wired for that.

Easy enough to add extension cables into the glove box

Had 1 of these for 2 years. Great unit, Halfords even fitted for free for me(pricing error where price Inc fitting was the same). Paid £490 back then. Can't fault it

You paid nearly double the price 2 years ago!?

Good price for a branded unit

Is it possible to fit one of these in a Mark 6 Golf?
    Roystrainset's avatar
It will be but you will probably need a fitting kit extra £20-30ish?

I had an Atoto unit from Amazon that crapped the bed 3 months later, replaced it with one of these (albeit second hand) and works an absolute treat & sound quality is superb. +1!

    Halfords don't fit anymore?

if only my mk1 TT Quattro wasnt limited to single din.... (edited)

I think this is single din

Does this support the dual reverse camera view you get in Nissan?
    thisismark's avatar
    yes

Why this over a tablet on the dash?
    Soulie86's avatar
    Cleaner look I guess?

Nice price, Bought mine through Amazon Spain or such like for £250 ish when they had a black friday or prime event on. Powered up with a amp for that extra bass kick. AA works well, reverse camera great, only issue I have sometimes the default music player will not always come on. In my case VLC player.

I'm relatively handy, but not done this before.

    1. Is this universal? Presumably not?
    2. How difficult are these to DIY?

I do basic car stuff... replaced coolant tanks, gaskets, spark plugs, sensors, fuses, hardwired dashcams.. nothing major but more than most tend to do.

    What car have you got?
