sorted byFirstly, the Z3C has a 4.6in screen, not 4.7. Secondly, it has the same dimensions as the Z1C because they reduced the bezel size to fit the bigger screen. Sadly, that pulverises your argument about the Z3C being too big...unless you think the Z1C is too big as well.
Your gonna love Iphone prices
PS4 Remote Play supports the Z3 Compact no probs (well it will on launch in November)
their after sales service is awful
Same here... not liking the rumours about a 6 inch screen on the new Nexus though.
Z3 has 3gb ram and a bigger higher resolution screen. Apart from that, i don't think there is any difference.
?
What? This has far more in it than a motherboard! For a start it has to have a main board, CPU, Ram, Video card - all micro sized versions. Then it has to have a decent screen, a decent camera, designed so it is waterproof. It has to have a 3G radio, bluetooth, nfc etc.
How you can compare the price to a motherboard is beyond me.
This remote play works on other android phones too. Someone on XDA ripped it
That'll be locked to o2 and the bootloader won't be unlockable
So tempted to get this but I'll hold out and see if a new Nexus is announced next month
If you think the money is to reimburse the development of the "special custom chips" just look at the relatively huge complexity of any £35 PC motherboard.
There are two types I believe, handsets with unlock bootloader=yes and unlock bootloader=no or something like that, if it is a no, the bootloader is permanently locked.
z3 compact (this) same size as z1 compact but with bigger screen, bigger battery and better performance.
still gutted that Amazon would not let me check out when it was cheaper still!
yeah, fingers crossed they see sense and bring out a version with a bigger screen
The remote play features on the Z3 are reported to be the same as the ones on the PS Vita. This means you'll be ale to use the Z3 to connect to your PS4 via any Network connection if its strong enough. however Sony only certify that Remote play will work on the same network. Search you tube and you'll see instances of people using outside networks and 4g to connect to their PS4. What I would like to know is will Remote play work if I hook the phone up to a TV with a MHL cable.
My missus likes to watch her soaps, and the kids want to watch Nick Jr or like to play in front of the telly. With this I can play anywhere, or even a bit of FIFA whilst "taking care of business" ;-)
I have a Vita, and recently took advantage of the recent Destiny deal whereby you buy the digital PS3 version and get the PS4 version as well so that I can play the game on the PS3 in the bedroom. I found that I hardly get to play the PS3 version as the missus is back and forth, and the Vita Remote Play works great but it does get very uncomfortable as the sticks are in an awkward position. I am looking forward to Remote Play with a proper DS4 pad
I'm a bit torn atm, as I do love my Note and the big screen, but I do kinda want a smaller compact phone. I guess I'm worried about going through the hassle of selling the N3 and buying this, only to find out I really did want the bigger screen X)
Loving the battery life on this though. Hopefully there's no bugs and what-not in the software and hopefully I'll be able to root and get viper4android working on it.
(I'm talking like I've already decided to get it)
This company seems to have a good few issues. While they have tons of 'good' reviews, just looking at some of the tweets people send them seems to show they are NOT a hassle free service.
I'll pay extra to avoid the aggravation, but a good deal find
A pair of MDR-NC31EM noise cancelling headphones arrived today. The headphones are better than most stock headphones but not of audiophile quality but then they aren't audiophile prices either, it is a satisfactory sound for the price.
The construction is plastic but study, the Xperia Z3 Compact recognises the headphones and displays the model number, "noise cancelling" is automatically selected without you having to alter the settings (nice). As far as noise cancellation goes the jury is out, it's a subtle noise cancelling and will not block out all sounds but better than nothing.
I bought the "S-Line Soft Silicon Gel Case For Sony Xperia Z3 Compact / Mini" from Ebay for £2.25!, transparent version, it fitted very well, all cutouts for various ports were almost perfectly aligned and was delived in about two days.
Note that the power and volume buttons are covered so require more effort to press. There are three small anti-slip areas on the edges, one above the power button, one below the volume buttons and one on the left below the magnetic charge port, very useful.
This is a temporary case, waiting for my proper free case from Clove!
I love the idea of a 6 inch screen, in the same footprint as say the note 3/4. As it's manageable, even with my tiny girl hands.
The main problem is it will likely be LCD. LCD displays simply don't look very good on anything above 5" or so as the shift in brightness is always there and distorts colours in an obvious way due to how large the surface is.
Even the high quality LCD panels in the iPhone 6+, while the colour doesnt shift much, the blacks turn to purples because of the tech they used to give better overall viewing angles.
Its basically AMOLED or go home. Motorola aren't exactly known for putting the best screens in their phones either. Good, but nowhere near great.
Should be announced around 15-16th November. The Nexus X rumours may be mixed up with a larger sized version of the Moto X. If they have any sense they won't put a 5.92" LCD on it but a 5.2" as originally thought. If they do put a 5.92" LCD on the next Nexus then I won't be buying it and will wait until another stock Android L phone is out in 2015.
However nothing spec wise on it that makes me want to change my Nexus 4 for it. I can't see it being much upgrade over what I already have. Still waiting for Nexus X to see what that brings.
Sony have been a bit daft making it 4.7", barely smaller than the Z3's 5.2" - I'd rather go for the Z3 as 4.7" is too big to be Compact so might as well go the whole way and get a Phablet! Z3 has better accessory support, for example it supports the wireless charging case which the Z3 Compact doesn't.
And don't be fooled by the "compact" name - personally I think this is the perfect size and is basically the same size as an iPhone.
+1 for this too. best phone I've ever had and I've owned a lot over the years
