I compared some YT vids in store in HD, 2k and 4k on A80J and C2 and concluded Sony to be better, or more natural. LG was over saturated, seemed to suffer some tearing and up scaling was not as good as with sony

now i am confused. Is this overall worse than a LG CS/C1, C2, S95b? i'll rule it out and hopefully others will to - thanks.

From what I understand this is better than the LGs for media consumption but LG is better for gaming.

I was looking for the A80K 55 inch. How does this compare? My use is mainly watching movies and series

I've had both. The differences are negligible. I felt the sound had more base on the earlier model, but the newer model has more watts and tweeters. There was a bit of metal at the rear of the older model, whereas the newer one is all plastic, but has a cable management feature added. There is talk that the newer model has the newer 2nd gen LG OLED panels which may me more resistant to any burn-in issues, but this is commercially sensitive so no confirmation and no discernible differences to my eyes. Go with the cheapest option imo so long as 5 yr warranty, and do check with Sony whether they still provide the warranty if you purchase from the less well known retailers as some may be grey market imports.

This, LG or the S95B for the PS5?

S95B is probably the best after the Sony A95K.

I'd only get an LG if you game on PC or have multiple hdmi 2.1 devices.

Otherwise this a80j is a great price. (edited)

For those who have this TV, I believe that the power cable is detachable.
Can anyone please confirm what sort of power cable it uses as I need to purchase a longer version for my wall mounting.
    Thanks in advance.

I have the 2017 Sony Xe9005, can anybody tell me do they think there would be a massive difference between these 2 TV's? Thanks

I also have this TV and am looking at the A80J as a replacement. In normal SDR viewing, no it won’t be much better at all. In actual fact in some ways it will be worse, especially in a bright room. The XE has local dimming and stays pretty inky black when not in HDR but does have a better SDR brightness.
However in HDR and in gaming, the A80J will be a noticeable improvement. There will be no blooming around super bright objects because of OLED being able to control backlight on a per pixel level. It’s a few years newer in terms of processing too so HDR would look more impactful, motion handling would be better and it has Dolby Vision. For gaming, there are HDMI 2.1 ports so for an Xbox or PlayStation it can take advantage of all the features that the XE won’t be able to

If you just watch TV, then you’ll probably not notice anything. If you watch any HDR stuff or game, then yes, it’ll be worth it.

Do you mean you've bought the TV from RS?

If so, how is it? Reviews are fantastic. Looked fantastic on the YouTube reviews I watched also.

Has anyone purchased this TV through Currys - can you obtain a 5 year warranty through the manufacturer as it would appear that Currys warranty is only 1 year

I'm torn between this one and the CS LG (which my understanding is the same as C1 but a better processor. Buying from my parents who mainly watch Sky output- TV shows mainly, some movies perhaps. Their current Hisense shows just poor quality output but I'm unsure whether that's just the Sky box or the TV, and if there is any configurations I need to do. Anyway, I want to get them a nice new TV. Online, the research seems to say it's much of a tossup between the two, hence I'm thinking of going for the CS for about £50 cheaper (Richer Sounds if you sign up to their VIP).
