Gotta say I like swiss and I like microbrands but I am yet to grasp what it is that this brand offers that justifies their existence in the market at this price point.

The name and logo are somewhere between forgettable and irritating.

Just don't get how this justifies as more expensive than so many more attractive pieces.

This isn't a Swiss brand, it's Italian with a Swiss movement. Squale is Shark in Italian. Still family owned. Rich diving heritage and haven't sold out to one of the big watch groups (edited)

ever since Squale came back and associated themselves with TGV aka the urban gentry channel on youtube I've avoided them like the plague. Any company that has any involvement with that faux aristocrat so called watch expert has no credibility in my opinion.

Why do you say that? what's he done?

Is it made by Jopa Squale?

Why do I do it to myself? Why do I continue to read the comments on here when it’s a watch? What self-loathing drives a man to intentionally get himself angered by the squawks of the uninformed?

Good price, good watch, heat. (edited)

It says Swiss Made at 6 o'clock (which they aren't allowed to do unless it actually is), if it had a Swiss Movement it would say Swiss Movt.

    Yeah, just reading up now...

It's as Swiss as Swiss gets, apparently...
French Swiss, not that far from Tissot. And purportedly the name is also French and seems to be a bit of a double entendre.

Looks to have started life as a parts supplier making cases, and watch assembly before launching as a short lived independent brand that looks to have struggled with the Quartz rush before the owner retired and the Italian distributor bought the brand and continued running the company, originally based in Italy with assembly in Schweiz before a full company move to Schweiz.

It's good that the market has different marques to suit everyone's affections. For me I can't find their watches more likeable than countless original microbrands, or their prices as justifiable as a solid heritage brand.

    But that's me.
