This or keep my Realme Pro 5? I'm tempted by the extra battery and storage..

Better update support on the TCL as it's a 2023 phone and yours is a 2019 phone

TCL 40 SE has eMMC 5.1 storage so pretty painful storage access. Your Realme has UFS 2.1 storage. I wouldn't get the TCL over your phone but it is looking like time to upgrade your phone if you want security updates. Security updates ended for your phone in May 2022. So either look for Lineage OS support or change the phone.

For the price it's a decent budget phone. My TCL refurb has been faultless and I've had for nearly 2 years. Was debating whether to treat myself to this one but I think mines still got a lot of life in it yet.

Any good for a kid to play games on ?

Really depends on how graphically intense the games are. Like there's no way this could handle COD or PUBG. But something quite basic like Candy Crush it would be fine

You can compare the two on here: gsmarena.com/com…812
    Which may help.

Nice amount of RAM/storage. Rest of the specs(processor, screen, cameras) are what you would you would expect at this low price.

As other poster said, RAM is the standout over the 4GB models you’d usually see. The rest is quite average, especially the HD+ display. Not a bad choice in this price range though vs other similar devices.

Honor often rebrand TCL phones (maybe because of Huawei security issues in the west) and TCL phones are often rebranded as Sharp in Asia since Sharp is a mess at the moment.

How is it compare to Redmi note 8 pro?
