    Good as the film is, the book is SO much better. I know it's a cliche, but it's true. You really get the sense of isolation and hardship from the book, and in your imagination the setting and details are entirely personal to you.

    Also - It's one of those books that grabs you, literally from the first paragraph - you don't have to devote concentration and energy getting 'into' it. Couldn't put it down.

    Film missed some poignant moments for me. Can't explain without spoilers for others, but +1 this is an incredible audio book. Best I've listened too.

    Great great book. Read it on old skool paperback well before the film came out so was strange as the guy in my head looked nothing like Matt Damon lol.
    I still haven't seen the movie yet. Big Matt Damon fan, have just been waiting till I get my home cinema sound sorted. It is now so looking forward to it. Waited long enough. Would still like to read this again tho.
